Always the offensive magic for me. I like being able to summon beings form beyond our mortal veil and throw fire at enemies. It's fun. I've tried warriors, but I always find myself missing my imps and my energy bolts.

Depends, If there is no Rogue. I go warrior (Like Dragon Nest) if there is a Rogue, I will be in the shadows taking your sorry ass out.

Varies, but I usually go for the magic type, or the agility/speed-based type.

Melee , always. With Guild Wars 2 being the next MMO i play, it's a toss up between Warrior, and Guardian. I usually HATE spell casting warriors like the guardian but i quite like the idea of evolving my play to suit more team based play, instead of gearing my pure warrior to handle all threats solo.

Sword and Shield wep set 1
Great Sword (or two handed sword or axe) as wep set 2.

Usually the high risk type classes (high damage output, low defence/health), which tends to be rogue/assassin types, and I always prefer melee over ranged.

Minion master usually, or Bezerker if I want to kill things myself, BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, and what not.

Personally I like running up on my opponents, so warrior-class I suppose. I am not the type to sit around and take dmg however, I love giving back (i.e. Drill-dash in Bioshock 2). I like to have the ability to play semi-stelth, but always back to pounding faces when alls said and done.

I'm usually a mage, although after playing Oblivion for the first time earlier this year, I noticed an affinity for rogues. I'll probably keep going mage for the first playthrough and rogues later.

I'll usually go for the gun based class. If there isn't one then I pewpew with bows. I'm looking forward to running a dual-pistol thief in Guild Wars 2 though!

Whatever DPS they have, I never liked having to plan out what I'm going to do for ever battle, just stab/slash/smash/shoot my way to victory for me.

Depends on the game, in MMOs I like to play the stealth or Dps classes, in RPGs I generally pick whatever has the most interesting skill sets.

I like going for very fast-paced and challenging classes to play. Like in Rift I prefer healing as a Cleric (Warden/Sentinel), because it's all instant-cast heals and can be challenging when solo healing. Also like killing players with my Warrior (Riftblade/Paladin) [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSxlvVk5cyU&hd=1] because there's nothing more satisfying than being able to burn down other DPS'ers, with my sword & board.

I usually go with either the Paladin/Jedi Guardian/Cleric type characters, or the primarily melee-focused characters who supplement their melee with projectiles to dish out a bit of extra damage when enemies are out of melee range (Amazon, Thief, etc.). I played WoW once on a friend's computer and went with the Mage, solely for the reason that magic in a lot of RPG's has a 100% "chance to hit," unlike most projectile attacks like arrows.

Well when Guild Wars 2 comes out I'm gonna start off with a Scepter-wielding Elementalist. It was this awesome video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqmmKgRaZrY&feature=player_detailpage#t=772s] that helped cement my future decision.

Also I think a GreatHammer Warrior [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFsvIOE2ev4&feature=player_detailpage#t=114s] looks more fun to play than a GreatSword one.

Depends on the game and how they approach certain classes, in most cases I usually tend to be drawn towards a ranger-esuqe builds or characters.

Hybrids. in RO I was a monk (healer/melee/magic melee), in WoW I was a druid and shaman, with D&D I was usually a rogue for the huge amount of skills you could get or otherwise a druid, in Rift I went with shaman/druid cleric and chloro mage, well you get my point.

My first choice is almost always the hybrid. Then after that a fast hitting usually rogue class, and third an archer or really cool mage class.

I often go for the mechanical type: the fixer, the engineer. I don't why, they just usually seem to come with a sweet range of benefits. You know, sentries, fixes things which ain't fixed, etc.

If available I'll choose any class that can/eventually gains the ability to summon things to fight for me, or if that class isn't available I first try out the healer and if I get bored of that I make a character that's some kind of ranged dps.

My reasoning for this is that even in games I like to simply sit on my lazy ass and let other people do the main work for me, as a summoner I use summons, as a healer my only job is to stand back and watch and occasionally stop people from dying, and as a ranged dps at least I'm not the one that gets smacked around by the baddies while still contributing fair amount of damage.
