I'm usually something DPS related, melee to be more specific. But I'm also pretty good as a tank. So in the only MMO I've played, WoW? I was a Warrior.

Once The Old Republic comes out, it won't really change. First thing I'm gonna roll is a Trooper. Once I'm done with that, I'll play all the other classes to see the story.

I've always prefferd being a healer. Like in WoW i'm a Holy Priest, often in LoL I play as Soraka and I always need to have a healer when playing Final Fantasy. I'm a supporting guy in real life, and being a healer is as good support as you can get...exvept the fact that I'm the world number 1 conservative healer

Rogue or, if I have the option, warlock. Most MMOs make you the hero so I just like making characters that don't fit the role well. Plus the massive DPS you get as either of them.

I always like to try any role once (City of Heroes for example doesn't follow the traditional trinity for example. Try it and you'll get steamrolled), though I usually wind up as an up front wafflestomper.

Always the Paladin/ Warrior, because no amount of Mages can take a single blow from an Eldritch Abomination, sweep it off,and backahnd him, most mages and healers have crunchy bone noises.

Rogue/Assassin/dude who moves as fast as lightning and usually backstabs people for a living.
Because the ninja/Japanese depiction of three kingdoms character is usually unavailable.

Rogue. Being invisible (and Vanish in WoW) is the best advantage you can have in a game where half the players are out to kill you.

I play the class with the most options. In WoW I was a druid. I like being able to change things up with minimal effort. As a druid I only needed to get gear to fulfill any role I wanted.

I usually pick a multi-role utility class.

I was a shaman in WOW

I'm a huge fan of spellcasters that aren't about sheer magic damage. In my current favorite MMO (NEStalgia) I play the DoT and HoT based spellcaster (Conjurer) and the "I cast with my HP" spellcaster (Warlock).

Fun game (and the price is right). Always looking for more people to play alongside on Algol server.

Enchanter from EverQuest was another favorite. Red Mage and Blue Mage from FFXI. Oh, and the EverQuest Bard was awesome too. I hope the NEStalgia Bard is half as cool when it gets released.

Edit: I guess I like generalist casters who have some degree of healing power. It's rare I play a flat out healing class though.

Paladin, or the game's equivalent of a tank.

I've only played Final Fantasy XI though, so it's not like I have a norm.

I liked the fact that I was the most coveted class - and the fact that I actually learnt to be good at it made sure I had a reputation that earned me repeat party invites, even from the borderline racist Japanese players (who seldom interacted with any other than themselves). It may be a completely different story by now however.

I like the high DPS rouge like classes. However, I also like some flexibility, so I play a hybrid class if possible. Best example is my Cat Druid in WoW. Love the high DPS and stealth, but it's great to go into caster form and do a few heals every once in a while.

I love being the tank, keeping the situation from descending into chaos and making sure the healers are kept alive.

Even though I played every single class in WoW nothing ever really got as much fun as raiding on my combat rogue.

Being damn good at it probably did help.

Since then I always try to go for the class that gets closest to the formula of "no-nonsense dual-wield DPS, preferably having some tricks with creative uses"

Generally it's called "Berserker", or "Barbarian".

Yes, I sucked at healing.
