I like encapsulated stuff as I really can't keep up with serials. Example, I just read Dr. Who and Star Trek the Next Generation prestige format books about the Borg and Cyber Men teaming up. Fun stuff.

I love comics!! Though the only ones I keep up with currently are Girl Genius, Order of the Stick, and Strong Female Protagonist. All of which are AMAZING.

I'd really like to keep up with Saga, but it's hard for me because it isn't up for free online.

Other than that I've read a lot of the "greats". Like Marvels, Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: Dark Victory, Maus, Tintin, Persepolis, Spider-Man Blue, Daredevil Yellow, Kingdom Come, Watchmen, etc. Also all the early Spider-Man. I love early Spider-Man.

I'm a pretty big fan of The Darkness series and all associated comics. Like WitchBlade. I enjoy the darker side to them and I think Jackie has the coolest power design ever. They also sell all of their comic in easy to purchase compendiums, so I don't have to buy fifty separate comics.

Other than that, I've tried getting into Marvel comics, with things like Gambit, Skaar, and a few others. The only one that has stuck is DC's Teen Titans from the New 52.

The Amazing Spider-Man(along with the Spider-Verse tie in comics)
Inhuman
Nova
a bit of Hellboy
Tooth & Claw

It's not a lot, but it's enough to drain me of a good amount of my funds.

Amazing Spider-Man..... wow that's the only series that is still current that I keep up with at the moment. I consider myself a comics fan too, surprising how that sneaks up on you.

Currently just
Sandman Overture
Justice League Dark

and some comics about not-large hooved quadrapeds.

Was following All-Star Western featuring Jonah Hex until it got cancelled, same for Sword of Sorcery featuring Amethyst, Demon Knights & Madame Xanadu. Though in the case of Madame Xanadu I considered the cancellation a mercy killing (seriously, if a male author has such obvious issues with women he shouldn't be allowed to write a comic with a female lead....).

I read stupid amounts of comics in the past but in recent years I've had to keep a tighter rein on things.

I forgot about Sandman Overture and the Justice League titles I read. Thanks for the reminder.

On a different note, what was the problem with Madam Xanadu?

I fell out of comics a long time ago... And then Marvel Unlimited had to make a 75 cents for the first month promo so now I'm back into them.
Right now, it's just deadpool, but I'm hoping I can find the new Squirrel Girl series, about the new Thor, and about this AXIS and SIXIS stuff.

And despite lacking quite possibly my favorite comic book character ever, period, Scandal Savage, I rushed out to get Secret Six. I like the entire premise behind the name. Not so well known/popular not so good aligned people are brought together, and get time to shine. And I like Gail Simone's style.

I kinda wish DC would do a DC unlimited thing.

The current series which I get from my local comic book store are

* My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
* My Little Pony: Friends Forever
* Sonic Boom

I used to also get
* Tiny Titans

I am obsessed with the Pony comics, the art is wonderful, the writing is spot-on and does a great job of expanding the universe.
In fact I liked them so much I got them again with the humble bundle currently running.

Only comics I keep up with are Lucifer trades, specifically the finale at New Year. Other than that... Overture trade somewhere 2016 hopefully, and irregularly checking whether Fables trades show up at library as available.

Simply easier with collected runs rather than keeping up with monthly issues.

Ohh, where do I begin....

Before I start I should point out that Madame Xanadu (at least the version of her from from the original Doorway to Nightmare and Unexpected comics is my all-time favorite American comics character. In the days before Amazon and E-bay I spent years tracking down and collecting her every appearance in the comics, even things like her 2-panel no speaking cameo in a Holiday Special that DC put out one year. Her character design is gorgeous, but what really made the character appealing to me is that she best embodied the whole thing that made comics great to me--they took place in a world full of mystery where anything, absolutely *anything could happen.
I adore the character so much that when she was mis-treated/mis-handled in an early episode of Young Justice I stopped watching the show entirely-- and I had been really liking the show up until that point.

But in the recent Madame Xanadu series;

First of all they removed all the mystery from the character. The air of mystery that surrounded her was what made her so awesome.

Half of her motivation throughout the series is that she's wet for the Phantom Stranger. Never really explains why she's so crazy attracted to someone who she's talked to for a total of less than 5 minutes.

A frequently used solution to problems she faces throughout the series is 'Find a guy who will solve the problem for me if I have sex with him'. I wish, I seriously wish I were joking about that.
At one point she resorts to literal prostitution in order to get from England to mainland Europe. She has magic powers and that's what the author had her resort to in order to get across the English channel.
And the apparent reason for her resorting to tactics like that is that she apparently just can't do anything herself.

I will say that the artwork was beautiful. And there were maybe one or two issues with good stories in them.
Other than that, the series was just awful.

Chew- A funny over the top crime noir where powers are based on food
IDW Turtles- Great comic with twists and turns and what is probably the best incarnation of Bebop and Rocksteady
Deadly Class- Probably my least favorite of the least but think of the anime shows where schools teach students dangerous techniques and not only Americanize it but set it during the late 80s

I've been out of the loop lately with comics for about 2 years now.

Trying to get back in to them again though. Probably will start out with finishing New 52 All Star Western, 90's Static, and Agent X.

Then I'll probably dig through my box and finish some odds and ends like Vol 1 Deadpool, Batman Year One, and Vol 2 Booster Gold.

Honestly... the complete Bionicle comic book run...

Other than that, I'm going to be borrowing my friend's copy of the Essential Marvel series involving the Hulk...

I don't have much truck with comics in general. Too dominated by superhero stuff that never ends. I like my stories to have a conclusion. Remember when Marvel were teasing "the death of Wolverine" a while back and everyone reacted with a great rolling of eyeballs because they knew that he'd eventually be resurrected so the show could go on? Yeah, that's a method of storytelling I have zero fucking interest in.
I think its familiarity and comfort like a soap opera...except more death, violence and tights than Home and Away

I'll be honest I'm tempted to start reading Batgirl/Batwoman again for reasons not even I can fathom

I've always wondered why non-super hero stuff just doesn't have the kind of visibility super hero stuff has

character did seem like kind of a miserable bastard

there's "pretty deadly" and "the 6th gun" for westerns

and "east of west" which is more of a *sci fi everything what the fuck is going on?oh but the art is beeeeuuuutiful* western

I abslutely love Batman graphic novels. There are so many good ones. I have most that I want except for rare ones like the bundled Batman/Vampire Elseworld trilogy(Red Rain, Bloodstorm and Crimson Mist; which are absolutely fantastic btw). I also really like hardcover re-issues of Batman. Espescially the early 90's run on Batman by Mounch, Jones and Beatty(see Vampire). I really loved the Breyfogle run as well but I don't know what beef DC has with this guy to ignore him completely.

I also love the late 90's/early '00s Spawn side-series like Curse of the Spawn, Spawn the Undead and Hellspawn(main series was awesome too during these years). These were absolutely amazing series. Hellspawn and the regular Spawn series in this era even gave rise to talent like Steve Niles, Ben Templesmith and Greg Capullo.

Speaking of Capullo I'm really enjoying Scott Snyder's current run on Batman as well. Zero Year didn't impress me as much as Death of the Family but it was still good. I also really liked American Vampire. The other current comics I really like are Ghosted and Nailbiter.

Not many.
The only comics that I try to keep up to date are:

- Fables: Soon to be over :(
- Ms Marvel: I really enjoy the approach they used for a Muslim female superhero, without feeling hoaky.
- Captain Marvel: So far, it was fairly entertaining. Crossovers with Guardians is appreciated.
- Animal Man: One of the most unique reboots to come out of New 52. The art is superb.

Well the funny thing is that I actually have an aversion to Westerns following EXTREME overexposure to them due to the only two friends I had in the town I was living in being obsessed with them.

I kept up with Jonah Hex due to the potential for really awesome events in the continuity he existed in (which was rarely actually explored), and because I could bundle the issues up every December and send them to one of my friends mentioned above. Guess I'm going to have to figure out real Christmas gifts for him from now on.

Scott Pilgrim, Blacksad, Tankgirl, and anything that poses a mild interest.

Other than that, I'm not a big comics or manga person. I believe that the field is far too oversatured and dominated by boring superheroes, the variety of which would make Liefeld himself envious of the broken spines and terrible art.

Really, it's alienating and silly, so I keep away from just about anything too action-centered.
