Anyone who says they would never kill someone probably isn't a parent.

If someone tried to harm my child I would end them. No hesitation or regrets. Period.

Moment of survival / self defense in an extreme situation without other options handy + similarly serious and otherwise unavoidable threat to another. Could be any other I suppose, because of course family, friends, innocent children are all obvious, but I'm pretty sure if I saw anyone getting threatened at gun point and I'm standing handy with something that's going to end that situation I would probably do so and think about it later. I mean, sure - wound or maim is better, but if it's gotta be all black and white, the aggressor forfeits their right to sue me for peace when they are making the violent actions first.

I like to think I could bring myself to kill someone if I absolutely had to in order to save someone I love. But the truth is I'd probably hesitate until it's too late, be too cowardly to get involved, or be too weak and incompetent to actually manage it even if I wanted to. Besides, how embarrassing would it be if I missed shooting someone standing five meters away, or tried to shank someone but couldn't muster enough force to do any damage. It would be like witch slayer ulting a creep. Better not to try.
I am totally on board with this answer. I like to believe that when the chips were down, I'd find it in myself instinctually, that it would happen and simply be an act of either preservation or an emotion-fueled defensive response...

but I doubt it!

If ***** ate my muffin.
The only reason I can think of that I'd try to kill someone would be in a fit of rage from seeing something extreme, like witnessing them murdering one of my family or something else nasty that I don't really like to think about.
I doubt I'd be able to kill someone out of self defence, seeing as if someone was coming at me with the intent of killing me, I'd probably just freeze up and let them. Maybe wet myself a little.

as most people here say i don't really know what would drive me to killing, probably long time psychological warfare, zombie apocalypse or the return of Scifi nazis though

Oh, I saw the title as "What would you drive to take a life" and I had ideas about running dudes over with a tractor or something. Now I'm disappointed.
Dude. Jetski.

OT: Well, I'm hoping to join the Royal Marine Commandos after university. So that should be pretty self explanatory.

If I get placed on the spiral in work for a whole day again. THAT could certainly drive me to kill

I really doubt that I could unless I was really, really upset by the person's actions and I had something to detach myself as much as possible from the killing. Like a gun or something. I'd make sure I'm finished roughing them up for it first with my rage-words.

Well,I'd only do it in a situation where it would be absolutely necessary,so my life or the life of someone whom I care for deeply....I think....I wouldn't have any trouble coldly killing someone whom would do such a thing.

Aye,my ire would rain down upon them like the heat of one-thousand white-hot suns of hateful fury, which comes to the two things that I'm not sure I could suppress:my explosive temper, and the fact that I have a sadistic streak.

My morality is what some people might call twisted. I'm not all serious about death. It happens all the time.
I'm not all there with this "all life is precious" bullshit. There are many, many situations in which I could bring myself to take another person's life. More of them would be without a second thought than I care to admit.

I don't think I could. Simple as that.

Worst case I guess I could kill someone by accident in self defence, but nothing could drive me to intentionally kill someone. Although I have to admit I have never been in this kind of situation where a life has been at stake. I could surprise myself I guess.

Any case where the outcome is worth the price. It is difficult to define that further without excluding scenarios.

Intellectually, I have zero pity, sympathy, or concern for those that choose to deliberately harm the innocent, and am not of the opinion that they deserve life. It is however, for good reason, difficult to achieve that kind of distance in terms of emotion. As such, I cannot say how... troubled I would be by such an event afterwards, but it should suffice to state that I absolutely refuse to let others suffer when action is within my ability, and am unlikely to let such get in the way.

Of course, such situations are likely to be... difficult to approach from a reasoned standpoint. Since I have not been in a life or death scenario before, I cannot state for certain how my body and mind would react.

quite understandable and i think i agree. (although my opinion may go on a tangent here and you may not agree with)

friends and family, especially my brothers, if they were in a death possible scenario (as in someone was coming at them with intent to kill) then that person better be ready to take on the terminator because i will not stop until they have realized how poor of a choice that was.

also, if you are an adult and you are just a piece of shit and are a waste of space and actively/greedily harm others for personal amusement gain, then i have no remorse wiping you from this planet (beforehand, can't say that i wouldn't have some problems afterwards) as you've had your chance and you've made your choices with pre-acknowledgement to why that is wrong and your mind is developed enough to make conscious decisions and know the reactions to it.

same reason why i feel no sympathy when a robber (on residential property) gets shot/stabbed and killed, you broke the law full knowing what you were getting into, may heaven have mercy on you because i sure wouldn't.

In self defense, in the defense of someone I cared for or of any innocent person whose lives were threatened.

In the U.S 'private property' is usually included in things that are worthy of aggressive 'self defense', but this is absolutely stupid in my opinion and is used as an excuse for trigger-happy gun owners to shoot anything that moves anywhere near their property line (immediately threatening or not).
