I worked for my employer, a large industrial construction company. We are expanding a large corn plant. I welded stainless steel pipe which takes up enormous amounts of electricity and argon gas. I drove 300 miles for no reason and ran over various small animals. Then I went back to my camp site and had a large bonfire which consumed about half a tree.

Happy now?

I pondered how I could hurt the Earth out of spite for Earth Day. I did nothing in particular, I just kept using my 400W computer.

I chased a raccoon out of my garbage cans again. Everyday that thing raids them and makes a mess. Living across the street from the woods really sucks sometimes.

Rode my Mowercycle* to work instead of burning bankrupting amounts of fuel in the car (public transport, car share or pedal cycle = not an option)
Made a nuisance of myself turning off projectors and lights in lectures when the tutor obviously wasn't using/needing either but had put them on anyway.

Mind you I do that kind of thing anyway. I didn't realise it was earth day until I'd got home. Forgot all about Malc McLaren's memorial ("observe a minute of mayhem at noon BST") too.

* It's not butch enough to really warrant me calling it a motorcycle, but its not a scooter or moped either. Seeing as the same engine almost certainly sees service cutting grass, I think this is a good name for it :D

I worked on remodeling my condo. Granted, this action had absolutely nothing to do with Earth Day, and changed the energy efficiency of my place not one bit. But then, I think it extremely useless for everyone to pretend to care about the earth for one day, and then not do anything the rest of the year.
