G'day to all my fellow escapists!

Do you go to school, high scool, college, or are you studying at a university, etc?

Then share something with us that you learned today (or perhaps just before the Christmas holidays/Winter break, if you haven't started yet!).
[sub]If you didn't learn anything in school then feel free to share something else of interest that you have learned from... anywhere![/sub]

This is my 1000th post on this forum, and I thought I'd celebrate by creating a simple, hopefully, entertaining and informative/educational thread, filled with useful and useless knowledge!

Edit: Damn I use a lot of commas.

I'm at university. And technically on holiday, but spent my day 'learning' (i.e. translating) Ovid's 'Ars Amatoria'. And as uncool as that sounds, it's actually damn funny.

p.s. enjoying your avatar

I learned nothing, as my classes don't start back up until next week. However, I do know exactly a week from this minute I will have learned about the History of Western Art, Life Drawing, and presenting speeches. Monday will be my busy day, but then it's all downhill from there.

Tazers take less energy than a digital camera taking a photo even without the flash.

As someone studying classics, I'm going to go with that's awesome. I translated Plato's Apology recently.

I'm still on break too.

One of my other authors this time round is actually Lucian. Who spends a lot of time taking the piss out of that aforementioned Plato and Socrates.

But let's not let this descend into a discussion about long dead swarthy Mediterranean men. That's what Assassin's Creed threads are for.

Well, I go back to school tomorrow, but I can tell you a fact that I learned before break. MDMA can be used to treat PTSD.

Or bore people with lengthy discussions on declensions.

I learned the distance formula for triangles, the causes of the French Revolution, and some stuff about the Earth's core and mantle.

I'm home from university for the holidays and I spent a good chunk of the day brushing up on my Japanese by reading comic books to build vocabulary (I hope to have worked my way up to actual books by the summer, but I still have a ways to go). I've learned a lot of new words, but I suspect quite a few of them will be of limited use in regular conversation.

Buisness class- my teacher used to work at the old arcade at our mall and use tokens to buy taco bell from the food court.
Cooking- That I'm going to make some spring rolls
Gym- Damn my arms getting sore from serving volleyballs, I've only served like 5 times Joe smells like rotten garbage and I should avoid him in gym (even though he's an allright guy but I can't handle his funk today)
English- This movie we're watching really sucks, why am I so tired? *sleeps*(it's a remake of Macbeth only it's in a kitchen starring the dick from "Wanted"
Lunch - theres barbeque sauce in a container marked "ketchup" and that bbq sauce pours out much faster than ketchup and covers everything and I skip lunch.
Math- That regardless of what these shit throwing imbeciles do my teacher is too much of a pussy to punish them (it's only this class and only this teacher, I don't think this about all the students or all the teachers). My god I have a painful headache and I don't think it's just because of these guys
Computers- my cartoon short of "an American werewolf in London" is going to kick ass, and I'm definently sick, and I have to be at work in half an hour. Damn

Something unlike every child in a standardised education system.

Smoking will cause mammary sagging to occur prematurely because the chemicals damage Elastin, the protein that allows for springiness in body tissues. So that coupled with the potential for erectile dysfunction really puts both genders in a bad place for vanity.
