Worst game i have ever played. I was promised by ads and interviews a well written epic story single player and all i got was 3 hours of complete and utter sh*t. i had to destroy the disc just to cope with this insult and insure that there is one less copy of a game out there.

and here is cute video describing my reaction after finishing the game.

Yeah OP, I support your opinion that game publishers and developers don't deserve money for their investments in producing games.

I also think the game was underrated. I don't think it was great, but I played a few online matches and I found it quite entertaining. The campaign did every cheap shot at making it strong and proving to us all that war is bad and even the good guys can make terrible mistakes too. I do think there are too many attempts at making us see that the Koreans aren't jsut invaders. They are really, really evil.
Despite the complaints about unrealistic story (oil crisis, America's economy going to hell and Kim Jung Il dying seems quite likely to me) I'd say it's quite possible.

Edit: my verdict: the game is OK.

Honestly, I hated it. Weak plot, zero character building, obvious Call of Duty rips, dirty visuals, poor writing, barren multiplayer, and muddled, boring gameplay. The "moments" were less then impressive, and that was when they worked successfully. It felt grimy, boring, and rote. I honestly had no difficulty believing that it was just THQ trying to get on the shooter train.
Agreed across the board. I post on another messageboard with a dude who worked on it, and he said one of the lead designers literally used to the phrase "what would Call of Duty do?" when he was approached with a question.

It is a shame that Kaos got shut down, because I do think they were underfunded and pressured into making a AAA COD-wannanbe but THQ, but the result was awful.

It certainly wasn't anything groundbreaking-- hell, the controls were identical to COD. Even so, I don't know how you can say it was grimy and boring. The atmosphere building was fantastic. The bus ride at the beginning reminded me fondly of the train station in Half Life 2.
Perhaps its different when you 'play' the opening, but from watching it, it was overdone, and about as subtle as someone taking a shit on a bus.

HL2's is downplayed, clearly showing a world gone wrong but not screaming "LOOK! EVIL PEOPLE!" (and Breen's recordings help with that; there's a human element), and they don't show people being beaten or shot; the two chances where those situations appear, the door is closed in front of you.

Homefront throws you into a pile of corpses and shoots two parents in front of a wailing kid. Its trying too hard.

I literally just finished playing the campaign, got it second hand, was okay but it was only worth the fiver I paid for it. I wont be buying a network pass as I don't think the multilayer looks very good.

It was bad.

The campaign had a decent moment or two. I liked the "press X to hide in mass grave" part. But the rest was terrible. A cynical and soulless attempt to cash in on CoD's popularity.

It was just so weak and insipid. Very average level of writing (and that's average by video game standards, so terrible), shooter gameplay copy-pasted from CoD and an inconclusive fizzler of an ending.

I just finished the campaign playthrough (didn't even try the multiplayer because it wanted me to buy a pass for it. I refuse to do that on principle) and I must say, despite its short length, I was pretty impressed.
The story was decent and a couple of the visuals and "moments" of it were some of the best I've seen in a game since HL2.

I'm really looking forward to Homefront 2 and REALLY hoping they make the campaign longer.

What did you think of it?
.
It didn't bther you that they cut up the campaign mid-way, introduced a main cast but never bothered to play with it? Yes, you have newspaper clippings but you can't hold a game with that. I'm talking about the American-Korean man. What about his past? What is the status of people like him?
Nothing. We shoot rednecks instead and get two lines from him about that.
There were some very good set pieces, but I didn't like the overall experience because of what I felt was missing.

When I think about Homefront, I get this image of a turd, deep fried in liquid turds, battered in powdered turds, and finally served on plate that is actually made out of the compressed turds of every species of animal on this planet.

I bought it on sale, played it once for a while and just gave up.

The plot felt WAY too forced, the balance was shoddy and I just ended up frustrated and wanting my money back.

Wasn't the best game ever but I liked it.

I hate how some people said: "It tries to make the Koreans seem bad by killing so many, but you just did the same to them."

Why I hate it is that, theres a difference. One side is killing hundreds and hundreds of innocent civilians while the other side is not. Take a guess at which side was doing which.

I thought that it was somewhat clever, but also made some stupid mistakes, most notably with the characterization of your teammates. The only one I even remember is Carter, and that's because I hated him with a passion. The controls were just like CoD only less smooth, and I would have liked some more visual variety.

I had two problems. The first was that the game too often reminded me it was a game by making it painfully obvious when some scripted action was going to take place or what have you. The second was that it was too short and in this case I'm not talking about length of play. The game just up and ends right around the time it gets going.

The multilayer felt (demo) was alright I guess. Not great and it just felt like it was walking a path set by Battlefield already. What sticks out best for me is getting onto a rooftop with a heli and trying to snipe with the broken sniper rifle you start with.

I don't know about that...it seems like modern FPS titles are shifting their focus towards multiplayer more so than single-player experiences. I would love to see...well, ANY FPS with a lengthy single player and so far the longest I've come up with has been Half Life 2.

As for Homefront...I haven't played it and when I do (if I do) will be for single-player exclusively. Once the price is in the mid teens I'll probably grab it to be honest, it's what I did with Duke Nukem Forever after all and I still play that (though admittedly, I only play with the cheats on at this point and the odds of Homefront 2 having cheats are LONG)

Campaign was terrible. As others have said, zero character development, and what little there was just turned them into cliche stereotypes. Hello "guy with anger management issues", I don't foresee this being a reoccuring theme.

It started off strong, and just devolved into something trying so hard to be CoD, but just couldn't do it.

At least with CoD's over the top "action movie" campaigns, the game knows exactly what it is and doesn't try to be anything different. A little mindless explosions and bullshit war plot is ok from time to time. It's when it tries to take itself seriously that it becomes crap. And that's what Homefront did.

This I can completely agree with. The bridge sequence was fantastic and felt chaotic and like a real batte.
Then it just ends without even saying if the Americans took San Fran or not.

I was like "but what about the battle?!

Arse, posing as human drama, don't get me wrong it had its moments. But it didn't really have anything to offer but gratuitous and generic "ain't war hell" moments with slightly xenophobic undertones... It felt like something that. Was made in the 80's and I don't think the writer of red dawn was a good choice because he clearly hasn't moved on from that "here be commies!" frame of mind. It was a broken Dinosaur of a game, I won't even start on the flaws of the gameplay, totalbiscuit put it right; it was just a shooting gallery.

I thought it was alright. The plot is what killing it for me. All they had to do was do a Find Replace to change "Korea" to "China" and I might have actually bought it.

I dunno. imo, it was a disappointment. It had one of the best concepts for a campaign and a multiplayer, but both were extremely underwhelming and I found the game possibly one of the greatest disappointments ever.
