I wanted to be a lot of different things when I was kid the first thing I remember is that I wanted to be a jedi Because I loved Star Wars when I was a kid, I still like SW but not as devoted as when I was younger

Then later when I became 7 I discovered that my favourite band was Iron Maiden I wanted to be a vocalist like Bruce

Apache pilot.

Was pushed all through school and 6th form towards the military, then got diagnosed disabled, so that's out of the window and I have fuck all in the way of appropriate career guidance now, and will probably never get it. FML.

Same here. I can't join the military cause I'm diabetic, and I've wanted to my whole life. Still, life goes on.

I wanted to be a paleontologist.

When I grew up, I realised that A: my country has hardly any fossil record to speak of and B: in order to get a paying job on the field of paleontology, you basically have to wait for some old paleontologist to die and even then some other silverback will fill their spot.

A Jedi. Yep.
/thread.

That or I just didn't care. The term "job" didn't really factor in my young mind. I was all about enjoying life. So now, I'm going to uni to study film. :D

I have always wanted to be a vet, ever since I was young. Never wanted to be anything else. I'm only in highschool, I still have a long way to go yet, but I'm still dreaming.

a doctor.
the earliest photo of me is me dressed as a nurse (because some wanker always took the doctor stuff) at nursery (thats like kindergarten, i think) and my favourite childhood toy was my fake doctor shit.

which is why i have a deep, burning hatred for my first year biology teacher. she ruined the entire field of biology for me with her biased grudge against me.
[sub]***** was probably jealous i was so awesome...[/sub]
and now somehow i'm studying law.

i hope you understand that vets have the one of the highest suicide rates of all professions because people forget you have to kill animals you cant help.
i dont want to ruin your dream job though. if you can deal with shooting a horse in the head or euthanising a dog, you'll do fine.
ive had to re-word this a few times so i dont sound like i'm trying to depress you. being a vet is a wonderful job.

A train driver.

Now I'm all grown up and shit, I want to be a Royal Marine, then a writer. Although I'm already a writer.

A more successful one, then.

An accountant, guess what I am now, a writer.

I remember thinking abiut halfway through my first book, "hey, shouldn't have those two been the other way around? the exciting one being a childish dream and the dull job with an assured income a good idea after university?"

These are the times one can be really thankful about video games. Try ARMA 2 if you didn't already! :)

Me, A cop or a pilot. Turned into an IT/Network support guy (I sucked at sports anyway, and wasn't much of a science geek excluding computer sciences which I excelled at in HS).
