What different/new direction would you like an IP to take?

I'd like a Halo game which is largely stealth based with more solidly stealth-based mechanics, with combat being more reliant on strategic melee and grenades than gunfire. The gameplay has always preferred the aforementioned methods to traditional weaponry, and Halo 2 gave us a tiny glimpse of this, I want a proper version.

Sadly such a game would have 343 Industries at the helm - but a man can dream.

I want a Total War game set in the 16th-17th centuries. It would be a nice blend of "medieval" combat along with emerging firearms and innovations, and would be a great way to set the background for Empire. There would be a strong emphasis on formations and pike warfare (Tercios, for example).

Or, they could explore Chinese or South Asian history. Plenty of diverse cultures in those places so that people won't complain like in Shogun 2.

I'd like it if Fire Emblem went back to the writing direction of the GBA titles/Radiant cycle. Enough with the Japanime Moe shit.

Personally, I'd love if a new Fire Emblem tried taking a few notes from Fire Emblem 4. Timed generation system, darker story and larger maps/scale. The only problem with that game was just... the gameplay.

Sci-fi Dark Souls, made by FromSoftware. I have a bucket ready when they'll announce it.

I'd really like the modern day Assassins Creed game to come out. Although if they want to take their time and keep making improvements to the gameplay (Syndicate imo was a huge improvement in making the games play very differently) and slow down the release cycle like they seem to be planning, then im very happy for them to do that too

The new Tomb Raider to go full survival on us, hunting, exploring, keeping watered and fed and of course sane. Harsh, unforgiving lands. So what if it isn't power fantasy for horny hormonal lady likers, it should at least try it once.
The Last of Us has some very good systems which i think could be applied to some great horror games, as mentioned above. Also with more survival mechanics. I am not a survival addict going cold turkey! *Starts climbing walls*

I'd take the Mechwarrior franchise and steer it into a novel new direction with a single player, story based game.

It counts as a new direction if it hasn't been done in 14 years, right?

I thought that the Dawn of War games allowed you to play as all the other factions too, including the Eldar? I know that the Orks and Chaos forces get their own WAAAAAGH in most of the games (just recently discovered the memes about Spess Mehreens and Mehtull Bawkses, in fact). Understandable if they don't give the Tyrannids one since they can't really have characters or narration.

OT: A Front Mission game (or ANY mech game, even a new franchise) that is a cooperative side-scroller with stats like Gun Hazard that actually gets released in America this time, possessing lots of mech variety and a twisty political thriller type of story.

More OT: Castlevania done Dark Souls-style, where you aren't a Belmont or someone similarly blessed (which I feel makes it less apparent just how strong most Castlevania monsters are despite most of the games being quite tough), but an ordinary human hunting vampires and other creatures of chaos summoned by the castle's presence. Imagine the number of ghosts there that could help you out.

Maybe an Assassin's Creed game where all the future bumf is completely cut and it focuses on sly, political and sneaky ways to get to close to your target. I dunno, maybe half Telltale and half...err.. Volume?

I would want EA to make more Command and Conquer games without forcing that multiplayer only crap down our throats or those awful gameplay decisions they made in Tiberium twilight. Such a shame generals 2 before they took it down the same route as battlefront looked promising.

Since Dawn of War 2 I honestly can't think of a single Warhammer 40k game that lets you play as anything but SM or Orks and even then it is 90% SM. I love the Dawn of War series but I think a game with both a narrative and gameplay focus on a different race (eldar being my example due to them being a personal favorite) would simply be a nice charge of pace.

And I can totally get behind your Caslevania Dark Souls style game.

I'd have someone, anyone, make a new X game that's an actual X game and not the abomination that is X Rebirth.

I'd also have the guys who made the original Supreme Commander make a Supreme Commander 2, and I mean a real Supreme Commander 2 and not the thing that Square Enix tried to tell us was Supreme Commander 2.

Well, I thought about a Sonic RPG game... but, that's already been done...
Then, I thought about a Mario dodgeball game... but, that's already been done...
Then, I thought about a Lemmings turn-based strategy game... and that hasn't been done yet...

Other than that, Westerado: Double Barreled in the style of Red Dead Redemption.. :p

I'd like the Shadowrun videogames to try their hand again at something else than CRPGs. Not that I dislike the CRPG. I love them in fact. But I'd like them to give a Deus Ex-ish style a chance.

I know, the last foray into FPS was apparently quite a misstep for Shadowrun. But y'know, the setting is big enough for more than just CRPGs.

So in other words, an actually scary and intimidating Dead Space?

Yeah I might dig that. Well, I'd like the Dark Souls fans to have it. I'd like to like DS but it's too hardcore for me.

I'd like to see the Megaman X franchise go in the new and exciting direction of existing again.

God of War (or a game with the same gameplay as God of War made by the God of War team) set in Egyptian mythology.
The latter idea is probably a better one than the former, since having Kratos, the whitest man in all existence, kill a bunch of brown-skinned gods might come off a tad insensitive.

You know, now that you mention Castlevania, I had this kind of odd but I think still pretty good idea for something involving the monsters and other creatures of the Castlevania games. While it didn't necessarily have to actually be part of the Castlevania IP, I was thinking of something along those lines that's part 3D Action RPG and part castle/town management. The overarching premise is that you're a vampire/vampire hunter/whatever that is trying to build and maintain a Castlevania style castle, town, and forest, and the overall goal is to get all the various supernatural creatures from Castlevania plus humans/mages/hybrids/etc. to live peacefully together, while still being about keeping them as threatening and awesome looking as monsters should be.

Here's what I'm thinking, each creature would be assigned one or more innate natures that have to be managed, such as "aggressive towards X" and an intelligence level that would control how easy it is to actually get them to do what you want and the distance away. For instance, with "Fully Sentient" creatures that are "Aggressive Towards Humans", as long as you fulfill their needs properly they won't attack humans without any further input on your part. However, with "Pure Instinct" creatures that are "Aggressive Towards Humans" you have to both fulfill their needs and place the lair as far away from humans as you can manage, while keeping them and humans as far away from each other as possible. Other creatures can only be corralled or hunted rather than directly controlled, but can be used as a source of resources and/or training for the creatures that can be. Then, there would be aptitudes assigned to each creature that would determine how good and fast they are at a given task that would make sense for that creature. i.e. due to their ability to climb most obstacles and on walls and ceilings plus their webbing, Giant Spiders are very good for expanding your castle and constructing other buildings, but also due to their large size and natural aggressiveness towards any creatures that have blood, they have difficulty working alongside most other creatures if their needs aren't being fulfilled to near maximum. Some creatures would even be able to make resources themselves that other creatures could make use of, such as the Giant Spiders producing dozens of eggs daily that aren't allowed to hatch which most other creatures can eat, and Spider Silk being useable at least in part in rope and clothes.

As for the action RPG portion, that would involve your character, as the leader of the community especially early on, personally running around procedurally generated dungeons, the Castle Town, Forests, and so on doing various tasks, such as hunting down creatures to recruit either through diplomacy, force, or through stealing the young, fighting off Monster hunters and self proclaimed "Dark Lords" encroaching on your territory, dealing with criminals and insurrections in your own ranks, and so forth. As an RPG would be something akin to the Monster Hunter games in general gameplay, with exp levels akin to the Metroidvania games. Later on you'd be able to delegate a good amount of these sorts of missions to your resident creatures to deal with.

I hope that whole thing doesn't sound nuts.
