As for how brits feel, they probably take it with dry annoyance. The fact that some yank actor is doing a brittish immitation, yet has the gall to not cross-dress while he does it probably rubs them a little raw, but not enough to get most up in arms about it.

Now who's stereotyping us Brits eh? (j/k) Not all of us possess a dry sense of humour, although we do love to see comic cross-dressing (monty python anyone?) and self-deprecation is our defining national characteristic (if anything).

I had no problem with the films, particularly since so much british comedy (and so many American comedians in Britain) earns countless cheap laughs by making you yanks out to be retarded, arrogant, humourless lovers of George Dubya, when in my own experience most Americans I've met are actually smarter (believe it or not, Britain is full of arrogant fools who don't even begin to appreciate the depths of their own stupidity) than most Britons (even though many yanks have a shameful tendency to not know anything about European culture or world news, but that can be blamed on your TV and education rather than yourselves).

Popular opinion over here says that you chaps lack a sense of irony, yet when watching decent American comedies like Curb Your Enthusiasm, Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Mr Show it becomes apparent that many of you DO possess irony.

Love Austin Powers, I think he's funny and the film has a very British sense of humour. (Self deprecation is the win)

What does bug me however, is most American films with 'British' (Read: Rich) people who always end up having no sense of humour and are inevitably a bad guy. That one's annoying.
