I'm not a fan of "twist" endings unless they come with whole twisted stories. Memento, for example - twisted from beginning to end (like it or not, I'm on the fence myself) and the ending worked because it matched that. Also works for romantic comedies sometimes or just comedies in general and the *occasional* horror movie. Beyond that, no, not a fan.
If you can't craft a story (book, movie, game - it doesn't matter) that you can bring home in a way that matches the way you were telling it then you need to keep working.
