What do you do during Loading screens?

We've all been there. You enter a new Hold of Skyrim or a new area of the Mojave Wasteland...and we wait. So what do you do? Do you stare at the screen like a zombie? Make a mad dash for the fridge? I knew a guy once that used to rip off twenty push-ups. Sound off loyal Escapist readers! What do you do when your adventure is loading?

I drum my fingers and press buttons. And when playing a PC game, I do both at once! Skillz, I gots dem.

Depends, if its a PS3/Xbox 360 game and I know the loading time is going to be ridiculously long, Chair Presses.. I used to do something similar in Counter-Strike if I died early in a round, 10 Push-ups as punishment for dieing so quickly.

Otherwise, like on the PC where load times are generally shorter, whistle to myself haha, or tap on my desk like I am playing imaginary drums.

That's generally when I give my DS some use. Recently I've replayed Fire Emblem, and I'll probably move on to Pokemon Pearl next. It'll be my first Pokemon game since Emerald came out

With most games, the load times are short enough that I just sit there, because there isn't really enough time to do anything else. If it's something like the wait time in League of Legends when all ten people are loading the map, then I'll usually surf the web on my phone(if it's a PC game)/computer (if it's a console game).

What DON'T I do?!


If it's Skyrim I just aimlessly swivel the figure on the loading screen round.
Oft I will just browse the internet whilst I wait.
And loading screens are a convenient text time, so I do that.

On skyrim I move the model around a bit. In other games I might go to the toilet or play my DS for a bit. I also give my DS a fair bit of usage in Sins games, where there can be a lot of waiting due to the game being very slow paced. The fact that Pokemon is Turn Based means that I can drop it when the battles start and pick it up again when the game slows down.

Depends on the length of the loading screen. If it's short I'll stay put and pick up a book, if it's longer I'll either do sit ups, run to the toilet, or grab something to eat.

Make coffee usually. After my last major hardware upgrade, since loading times are way shorter I'm down to a single pot a day, which is good for my heart rate.

Seriously, most loading screens arent long enough for me to actually do anything, but in times when they are, i guess il browse on the net.

Haven't played a game with a long loading screen in a while. If its online though and Im waiting for a game to start Ill generally look at the other player names and decide what type of person they are and what they look like based on their nicknames.
