What do you do when a telemarketer calls?

I ignore the phone unless I'm expecting to be called.

I usually don't pick up. But a mate of mine did something amazing quite a while ago.

He recognized a person on the phone (that has been calling him quite often before) and he just interrupted her in her first sentence with:

NOO!! JUST NO! I DONT WANT TO BUY ANYTHING!! and he hung up. It was a random outburst of rage which was really funny to watch.

well i use to put them on hold but now people on the other end of the phone are finished all i get is robots so i just hang up as soon as i hear the machine voice damn machines

I immediately say, "I'm not interested, goodbye." and hang up before waiting for any reply.

Usually, I start of being relatively polite. Then when they don't understand that I'm not interested in buying a new phone, I become very rude.

And then other times, I'm just rude.

Normally, I just hang up as soon as they start talking or if hear the call centre background noise. If I'm sick to death of them, I will get them to start their sales pitch, go get my mobile phone, call up Domino's Pizza and place that phone next to the landline. Hilarity and confusion does then ensue.
