I'm the weird one who doesn't really have a method of calming myself down, I just keep reading creepypastas until I no longer care that there might be a demonic serial killer outside my bedroom door.

I'm sorry, but you find a girl whose face is half-covered in grotesque scarring to be cute because...?
Well, someone has never even touched Katawa Shoujo or you would never ask me that question. Just... Trust me, cuteness, proper real 100% cuteness is far more than skin deep.

It's hard to explain but I find Hanako cute because underneath all that scarring she's got an adorable character. The entire thing with the game is that everyone has disabilities and they're undeniably there but they're never the focus you understand? I look at Hanako and I don't just see a girl with scars, I look at Hanako and see Hanako.

I recommend you (and hey, everyone else here too) play it, even if you can't get over the bacon (shame on you!) and pick someone else's route. It's freaking awesome.

The genius behind Katawa Shoujo is that it somehow manages to be incredibly clever, thought-provoking and very, very tasteful considering what absolute controversy bait the game's premise is.

Hanako's route is the one most focused on her disability (for obvious reasons) and even then it's never focused on the scars themselves. It's all about her trying to deal with the massive psychological damage that she was left with and even more importantly how Hisao (your main character) goes about dealing with her.

Agreed. Hanako's entire arc was the most meaningful to me. Especially getting her good ending. I was so conflicted at the choice you have that either leads to the good ending or the horrifically bad ending for her and i was thinking to myself "Why do i care so much?!" But her arc made me think the most and i was genuinely happy about the ending i got.

When i get creeped out? Honestly, i'm far too gung-ho about anything even remotely scary. I usually just charge at whatever noise i'm hearing and it either scampers away (Stupid Cats) Or stays there and mocks me (Totes in closet with bear on top)

Honestly the only time i've ever been creeped out to the point of not being able to move, there was good reason. It still sticks with me.

I tend to have horrible gas when it gets that late at night, so if I happen to have been watching/reading something particularly creepy once it is time to hit the sack, I know just what to do.

I'm far too busy giggling by that point to care about my subconscious playing tricks on me.

I settle down with a warm drink (preferably tea) and watch an episode of a happy TV show or cartoon. The best mind bleach for me is Adventure Time, The Regular Show and Community. They make me feel happy and forget about my little misadventure into the twisted dimension that is the creepypasta wikia.

There it is again. What does that mean, "creepypasta"? Is that really a thing?

OT: Whenever I get into a creeped out kinda mood, I don't try to escape it, I just embrace it. Usually by reading Lovecraft or something.

Nothing really.

For me, the whole of point of watching something creepy or disturbing was for that reason. I love horror, and I love to read about things that are disturbing and creepy.

Then again, I'm probably the weird one, and I'm totally okay with that. :D

If I get really scared I'll light every single light in the apartment, as I make my way to the bathroom, then shut them off methodically before jumping into the bed. Whenever I'm done reading creepy pasta it's usually way past my bed time, so I don't have time for watching cartoons and stuff.
Haven't been particulary freaked out by it in a very long time though. Perhaps I should make a visit to the dark pits of the Escapist tonight.

Horror stories or pictures that people post for a quick thrill, usually coming from other people than the poster(pasta as in paste, from copy paste) as far as I know. I've never looked up any definitions.

Edit: Link to the Escapists creepypasta thread. No need to thank me!

Honestly I don't get creeped out often, and when I do it is by something totally real. I'll let you guys in on what creeps me out so you don't think I'm trying to be some internet tough guy, I get creeped out by bugs in the skin. It is the only thing I've ever found that has a physical/emotional effect on my body when viewed through any form of media. Meanwhile horror, creepypasta, survival horror games, psychological thrillers, ect, none of them have any effect on me. Meanwhile, when my g/f flips to that damn show that has the medical maggots eating dead flesh off of someone's leg, I'm ready to run from the room.

I get creeped out pretty much every night, my sister and cousin are both horror enthusiasts and I sleep in an incredibly dark basement which is only half finished. One of my walls is only a curtain and any small light casts really deep shadows. Generally I put my back to the wall, make a barricade of pillows in front of me because there are 3 options.

A) There was nothing to worry about and I get a good nights sleep
B) Something natural will try and get me, in which case it has to come either from the windows: which are small, locked from the inside, and make a lot of noise when opening or broken; Or the stairs: which make a lot of noise, are my only escape, right next to my dogs kennel, and are at the furthest possible point from my 'room'.
C) Something supernatural will get me, in which case how does my being awake make me any better off.

You have that avatar, but no idea what creepypasta is?

Alright...

Creepypasta is basically psychological horror on the internet. Websites, images, videos, whatever, meant to slowly creep you out till your crying for mommy. Often inspired the work of Lovecraft. The good ones will set you in a mindset, desperately filling in the blanks, scaring yourself far more than anyone else can.

A few major ones include Slenderman (his presence on the internet predates that game) and the SCP Foundation.

Besides the above mentioned SCP, I do not dive to deeply in any of them, because I actually want to sleep at night.

Lawl, I use J-Dog as my avatar, and he isn't scary unless you're afraid of sick rhymes.

I love Lovecraft, I think I'm gonna browse this thread a bit. But you didn't provide a link like the other guy did. You've failed me!
Forgive me for the sin of double-post.

I usually whip out my phone and find something to do, maybe lurk a thread here or browse a gallery on know your meme. Or I'll read manga off my phone, something light hearted and pointless

I have a habit of reading creepy pastas before bed when I stumble. Sometimes they range from simple rumours of videos (such as Red Mist) and some of them are super fucked up. After I've read them, I go to bed satisfied.

I don't get creeped out much any more. I watch cartoons for other bad feels, though.

I welcome it....takes my mind off of....other....depressing matters....

lol

I don't really get creeped out about supernatural things as I do just thinking about uncomfortable circumstances. The last couple nights have been awkward cringing and crimping up as I picture this particular torture method.

It's the one were your hung upside down and 2 guys work a saw from your crotch to your abs in such a manner that you experience as much pain as possible....something about that cock torture stuff....*cringe*

Otherwise I usually just think of something so ridiculous that I start breaking into laughter. Probably why creepy stuff doesn't creep me out as much as it maybe should...dunno

This happens to me nightly. EVERY FREAKING NIGHT. I cannot stand darkness, and I get really paranoid really fast when I can't see things. It doesn't help that I'm housesitting the darkest house in the world. ;___;

The reason I survive: A bible. Yeah yeah, I know, controversial and edgy/wholesome and irritating, but hey. If it works, it works, and a bible works.

If I don't have a bible on hand, I usually go to cuteoverload.com and hope for the best.
