I haven't had a good week. I've been very depressed and yesterday and today there were a couple family deaths that just put the icing on the cake. I'm not particularly thrilled with life right now. I'm not trying to attract pity or anything I just wanted to provide a bit of perspective/backstory, as I usually do when I make threadshing always leads me to make a thread.

Anyways, I've been playing lots of video games, hanging out with friends, watching lots of movies and rugby, re watching old Simpsons episodes and staying up until I pass out from exhaustion. I also had a couple nice long pulls of my favourite tequila today when things got a little too much and I was on the verge of an emotional breakdown. But I digress.

As stated in the title, partly for ideas and partly for kicks, what do you do when you're depressed?

I murder things and people with wreckless abandon in the closest sandbox game, like Just Cause 2 or GTA IV.

Emptying a few digital clips into a crowd, or dropping a few hand grenades at some bums feet, always makes me smile a little.

Mario Party. N64. Works everytime, the overwhelming happiness/nostalgia just cheers me up. Either that, or I put on some music (Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cure, Pixies, Plumtree) all help me through rough patches.

I haven't actually felt depressed in a really long time, but since it's the last activity that actually made me smile, I'd take my shotgun to the shooting range and go through a few boxes of shells.

If I'm depressed, I cry, and I will cry for literally days. Fall asleep crying, wake up crying, having little teary mini fits with people.
I can't exactly go out like that, but if two or three days of crying and staying in/being with someone who'll deal with it really helps me, I find it's worth it.

When things get shitty I hold it all in until it gets too much, then everything's far worse than it should be, so I end up so upset. Though, since I'm a particularly emotional girl, this may or may not apply to everyone who reads this :p

When I'm depressed I put my left hand in my pants for a while in a totally non-sexual way and then I forget why I was depressed.

I generally eat lots of junk food. Which is why I've put on weight recently. I also lie about doing nothing. Doesn't really help though.

I try to go about my own buisness and not aknowledge that its getting to me, untill a certain physics teacher thinks Im talking in class when im looking straght at him and he can see my mouth isnt moveing. Then I like to wait for some studends on the other side of the classroom to start having a conversation in Korean, so that the aformentioned teacher can mistake it for my thick Australian accent and shout at me to leave the class.

I find these two steps to be very effective for relieving lesser levels depression, but only when I follow them off by yelling as loud as possible at EVERYTHING for the remaining 5 hours of school. This last step is crutial, and targets may includes the vice principal, parked cars, people who get out while I watch them play handball and ceiling fans. (but serriously, friends, videogames, takeaway dinner and sleeping in)

Give a loved one a big hug.

Oh, you wanted a real answer? Focus on everything you hate about your life until you're crying your eyes out. Once you're done, download a funny podcast and go for a long walk in a quiet area.

I listen to sad music that goes optimistic at times. Examples:

I hope this helps someone at least a bit. I found Seasons to be very efficient at making me feel great!

Tell myself to stop being depressed. This sounds stupid, but I hate being depressed, so by telling myself outright to stop, it helps oddly enough.

It also helps to have some good friends though.

Depending on the time, location and magnitude of the depressed feelings, a combination of;
Listening to music
Playing video games
Going for a walk (only late at night)
Lie in bed and overthink everything
Masturbate
Drink
Eat/Starve myself
Attempt to cry but fail
Think about causing myself pain (but never actually do it)
Sleep deprivation
Complain about my depressing life to people
Abuse people on the internet
