I start considering the most efficient, practical and least painful ways to kill myself.

What, did you want something helpful?

Take a couple of my 'calm the fuck down' pills, but I think we're talking about a different type of depression...

I recommend a long walk in a place where the fresh air can get to you. When I'm upset, I find the wind blowing through my hair takes my upset feekings with it

Listen to music, the angrier the better. (At the moment Hester Prynne)
Scream.
Masturbate.
Drink.
Game.
Go out with friends.

Nothing. I will literally lie in my bed and do nothing for hours. Usually in the dark. If I'm feeling particularly bad I'll listen to sad songs. I don't recommend it though, I just end up feeling worse.

I watch T.V shows. In my experience nothing speeds up time more than watching T.V. For this reason I can usually go through alot of time in what seems to be very quickly and am usually if not happier by the end at least clear minded enough to think through and deal with whatever has gotten me down. I used to try and play games also, but I find that if I do anything that I inherintly enjoy when I am really sad I don't enjoy it and so it's ability to make me happier is kind of depleted.

depressed is not a synonym for sad

I think depressed people are rarely sad, actually; they (we) feel something different altogether.

When you're feeling down (which happens occasionally to depressed people, as well) do something you don't do every day. Take a walk just for the heck of it; buy something (in an actual store, not online) that you probably shouldn't buy or don't need; log out of FB and IMs, turn off your phones and watch 3 movies in a row (unless you do that all the time...).
You know, me-time. Be selfish. Being helpful, compassionate and productive is hard and takes a toll on your soul.

and stop making yourself feel worse by telling yourself you have a permanent clinical condition, when it's just a crappy day. No shame in having a crappy day. Most days are crappy, but we're often too busy to notice.

I listen to the Pokemon Soundtrack music from Black and White and some of the older games.

For example these three from Ruby Sapphire and Emerald never get old.

Oh and the Champion Music from Fire red Leaf green, blew me away when I first heard it.

Then there's the Black and White version, I pretty much fell in love with this song.

I watch romance anime. And no I'm not gay, it gives me expectations to hope for. That cheers me up.

I rationalize. It helps against depression and any other pesky emotions.

I haven't had a good week. I've been very depressed and yesterday and today there were a couple family deaths that just put the icing on the cake. I'm not particularly thrilled with life right now. I'm not trying to attract pity or anything I just wanted to provide a bit of perspective/backstory, as I usually do when I make threadshing always leads me to make a thread.

Anyways, I've been playing lots of video games, hanging out with friends, watching lots of movies and rugby, re watching old Simpsons episodes and staying up until I pass out from exhaustion. I also had a couple nice long pulls of my favourite tequila today when things got a little too much and I was on the verge of an emotional breakdown. But I digress.

Whenever i'm depressed i usually listen to uplifting music or play games that don't require me to go against another human (in case of sudden rage buildup0, have a smoke and ponder about life a little.

I tend to go off food xD But eventually I turn to chocolate to be my hero, so thankfully it's not a dangerous habit xD
Mostly I'll try and make some solid hours on Halo or another game I can get quickly absorbed in, or do physical exercise like a workout of going for a jog - just try to get my mind off whatever's bothering me, mostly.

Punch it in the dick and stop being depressed. It works surprisingly well if you actually do it.

This too-

Sleep. A lot. Close the door to my dorm room so no one will stop in. Ruminate. Skip dinner with my friends and eat alone.

I find boxing is a great anti-stress/depressant. If I don't have the energy for that, playing the piano helps too (though try not to go for overly sad/depressing pieces, more upbeat ones).

Listen to The Smiths, it works surprisingly, even though the songs are quite depressing it gives me the feeling that Morrissey understands me and has been through this himself, even though he can't actually understand me, as he has never met me, and thinking that he does is probably grounds to be sectioned.

I go for a run and exhaust myself. I then listen to stupid happy 90s pop music. 5ive's "Keep on Movin'" is a good one.
