What do you do when you're depressed?

First off, my sympathies.

Second, when I'm pissed, frustrated and depressed, I play video games. When depressed/frustrated/etc, I tend to gravitate towards either games involving mass carnage (no more heroes, infamous evil side), or speedrunning games (sonic, Mirror's edge, etc). Or a game that just happens to have elements of both (shadow the hedgehog).

The mass mayhem games help me release my frustration, and when doing some good speedruns, I find I enter my own personal Zen (Just keep going at it again and again and again until you get that one perfect run and feel like the wind itself).

That, and I eat instant noodles with chopsticks. Life seems so simple when all you're focusing on is slurping down noodles.

Really bad idea. I watched that series while I was feeling down (due to various reasons that I won't bore you with) and it pushed me over that edge and drove me to attempt suicide.(Don't worry, a shrink and some pills helped.) [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/IGotBetter]

So yeah, my advice would be to go to a therapist. It really helped me.

I smoke too much, drink too much and eat too much.

I then go find a stupid person being stupid and tell them how exactly they are being stupid in the most detailed and exhaustive way I can- nothing makes me feel better than a good rant.

I get depressed alot. I generally deal with it badly. Solitary gaming, or drinking spirits alone. Alcohol will not help you.

I also listen to Muse alot when i'm depressed. It helps (even though alot of people deem them to be "depressing", its better than "happy music", which just makes me feel worse)

Currently listening to Ladytron whilst baked. Other times, I usually sleep it off or invite a friend over for a chat and some videogames.

All I need to do is get my mind occupied with something else. Swinging my swords or axe around is always fun. If it is late at night, the best medicine for most any problem (be it sad or feeling sick) for me is to just have a wank. It relaxes the mind and body.

If I can't play with myself or my axe, and RTS game is the next choice. Nothing more satisfying than having a Holy Roman assassin kill so many popes the house of cardinals becomes vacated.

A) Sit in bed crying

B) Lie down in bed crying

C) Punch my legs until I can't stand the pain.

Usually I do a mix of A and C.

Whenever I get depressed, one thing comes to mind: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Don't criticize the show if you haven't seen it: it is actually a legitimately funny and cute show. The animation is gorgeous, ALL of the characters are loveable, and the writing is actually pretty good.

Another show that comes to mind is Lucky Star. The animation is a bit stale, but that is show is so funny it never fails to put me in a good mood. Konata's constant trolling to Kagami never fails to make me laugh.

Also, I listen to some good music. There is a man named Jim Johnston, he does all of the themes for WWE wrestlers, but just listen to this amazing stuff!

Deppression? Just get on with life. Do what you normally would do for fun, spend time with friends. Never shut yourself away wallowing in sad music or playing games on your own as this will not help. Ever. No matter how bad things get in life, it doesnt last forever. Death, divorce, in a years time they wont matter as much. You cant do anything to change it anyway, just got to let feelings run their course. Sadness over death ends soon enough. Stick with your mates.

I take my medication and laugh at people who call themselves depressed when all they are is a bit down.

Seriously. Depression == serious psychological issue. What you are is not depressed.

Go out with friends, anywhere. To be honest it doesn't matter where, humans are social creatures.

Read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, read the happier stories on Reddit, watch episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix. Yeah. I'm mature.

I'm normally a pretty easy-going guy, but I had some internal conflict going on the other day. life is moving pretty fast with university coming up and I had had a long day helping out at a show which mostly went wrong and put the producer in a bad mood.

So, when I got home, I played some Guitar Hero on drums to work off the stress, and that was when it all caught up with me. I sat cradling my temple in my hands and thought things through for about 10 minutes. Then I played some more drums, and then I thought some more. After that I felt immediately better. I guess I just overturned the bad thoughts with good ones.

So that's how I cope. Apart from that I know for a fact that watching Friendship Is Magic puts me in a good mood.

Listen to music, play video games mostly. Something else i found that really helps me is throwing shit, preferably while listening to music.
