What Do You Fear? *Insert Sinister Laugh*

I have many personal fears concerning complicated situations and those I care very much for, but for the sake of maintaining levity.

Spoiler: Palmetto bugs

Otherwise known as giant flying cockroaches. They strike fear into my heart when I hear their wings flutter in the darkness. If you've ever had one crawl on you when you're half asleep, or fly at your face, it's terrifying.

I've got a pretty serious case of arachnophobia

If they leave me alone, I leave them alone. After all, they keep the rest of the bugs at bay. But so help them if they come anywhere near me, I'll shut my eyes tight and flail like a child having a temper tantrum. That'll show 'em.

Deep water.

In games and in reality, I stay as far from deep water as possible. I'm fine with pool's 'n the like, but if you're tryin' to get me to swim in a lake/river/ocean? Commence spider policy of flailing like a crazed child.

On top of those; falling. I just can't do it. Anything that involves falling, be it amusement park rides, roller coasters, hell, even diving sends me careening into a state of panic.

Being burned to death, I've seen videos of it and it looks like a painful and terrible way to go.

I've got a bunch.

First and most prominent, heights. I cannot STAND heights. I've broken down by just being at the top of a large water slide and had to walk to the bottom, wasting everyone's time.

Deep and/or dark water, like everyone says. The feeling that I am so tiny and insignificant and that something can just swim up and swallow me whole terrifies me on several levels.

Balloons, oddly enough. I hate loud noises, and balloons were the loudest noises of my childhood. I've never been comfortable around balloons filled with helium and I work at a grocery store, so you can imagine that's always fun.

Being in a relationship. I an deathly scared that I am going to end up sucking at them, that I'm going to end up with someone I hate and go through a divorce, I hate awkward relationship stuff, I am plagued with insecurities, and so on and so forth.

Two fears come to my mind-

Irrational fear- spider (arachnophobia). I don't know why but they scared the hell out of me for some reason. I don't even remember to the exact origin to why I fear them as I do recalled I was fine with them when I was little. (I know the film arachnophobia has nothing to do with it). Maybe it's because they look so different from another other insect like 2 body parts and eight legs.


Rational fear- losing my closest friends (either they died, we have a huge fight or lose communication/ connection one way or another) and becoming truely alone.
Sure I liked to be alone but not truely alone (I have close friends to keep me going). Sure I read that there are people on here who are fine without friends but to me, friends are one of the greatest things in life since you have someone to share your experience with. Without them in my life, I would be alone but I will feel ever so lonely. Yeah it kinda hard to explain it in words...
Just to be clear, my closest friends are the ones I had met in person and sometime meet up. "Online" friends isn't really the same as real friend to me (no offence to the online friends I have made). I just find it a far better experience hanging out with them in person since they are the reason I strife to get out of my comfy room with my pc and games sometime.

I have mild gynophobia. MILD, not major. Anyway, I can talk to females in the workplace (whether I'm working or she is), as I've little choice but to engage them. Outside of a professional setting (or porn), I put as much distance between myself and women as physically feasible. I do this for my own safety, as I don't wish to be mistaken for a creep, rapist, stalker, etc. or any imaginable combination of stigma that is assigned to males that aren't paired off with someone and attacked/shunned/arrested as such. Yes, it's silly, but I find the fears of heights, the supernatural (assault rifles were made to be used against these things) and cockroaches to be equally silly, so cut me some slack on this.

I have absolutely no idea if there is a proper -phobia attached to this, but I really dislike being in big cavernous-type buildings. Arenas, barns, gymnasiums, that kinda thing. I've just got this terrible idea locked into my head that it'll either collapse or the roof blow off it while I'm in there.

I also get stupid levels of social anxiety sometimes. Like, not willing to open an email because OHGODTHEYPROBABLYTHINKIAMSTUPID bad.

Cancer is easily my biggest fear as of right now. It's scary to think that it can just appear out of nowhere and either kill you, or make life extremely tough by getting treatment. That's another thing, the treatment is usually almost as bad as the disease, making fighting the disease not worth it. To put it plainly, I would probably rather die instantaneously than get diagnosed with some form of cancer.

This is why I never go to WebMD for amateur diagnoses. Everything is a symptom of cancer. Simply inhaling and exhaling is a symptom.

I've almost been convinced I was about to die one way or another when I went on WebMD. Anything that helps you self diagnose yourself is never helpful, especially when you are already really anxious about some kind of symptom you feel.

Uncertainty. As in, not knowing stuff in general or even having information withheld from me.

I'm an incredibly neurotic person. Also spiders, having to do taxes and hipsters.

This is a big fear of mine, as well as the fear of death during sleep (any time I think there's a slight pain sensation when I'm trying to sleep I try to avoid panicking).

The buildings collapsing fear has probably stemmed from when I was a child and I had a massive fear of fireworks. Like I couldn't be outside when they were going off and even indoors I just yelled, because I was fearful of sparks landing and setting me or someone I liked on fire.

Needles

The idea of something so small with a fine point can effortlessly pierce my skin gives me chills. This is one of the only reasons I dread going to the doctor's; everything I go in for something routine, I always get a shot; always.

I donated blood not too long ago and that was a frightening experience for me. I did it mostly to discover my blood type (O Positive, by the way. All hail the Universals!) and I figured it wouldn't be as bad as when I would get blood drawn at the doctors.

2 pints = 16 ounces = 2 cups = 1/10 of your total blood!

I could feel everything; my heart racing, my body heat escaping from the needle, the blood being sucked out into a bag, and my body being slowly deflated as I was giving blood away.

Really going to consider future blood donations in the future...

A sort of extension of my fear of needles, I can't stand any form of tampering to graphic depictions of veins/arteries. From slashing wrists to them being ripped apart in horror and gore fests, it's not a good time for me.

I've never broken any bones in life (thankfully), but I can only imagine that it is not a pleasing experience. I was always pretty reckless as a child, but I was always made sure that I didn't come home with anything broken or dislocated. The mere image or utterance of a broken bone is enough to leave me squeamish.
