So today is my Birthday
Same here buddy. Best wishes. I know that deep inside you'll appreciate. ;)

P.S.
You don't have to pretend that it doesn't bother you "yet". Yea it does and you think a lot about it. People born during this timeframe are often heavily influenced by thoughts about time, death, dying, fading away. Use it to your advantage. :)

You're not turning into a grumpy old man.

You simply ARE a grumpy young man, it happens, you should mellow out of it in a few years.

Happy birthday anyway.
This. OP, HAPPY BIRTHDAY(!!), you nihilistic old fart! You've cheated death for over 7,300 days! That warrants a celebration, however minuscule.

I always enjoy birthdays, whether it be mine or someone else's. I've long since stopped caring about getting gifts, but more often than not it poses an opportunity to get together with a bunch of friends, have dinner and knock back a few drinks.

Take the birthday for what it is and just have fun with it. Better yet, exploit it!

I hate how people think turning anything but a milstone age(5,10,16,18,21) is such a big deal It may be because my family has these big birth days for everyone BUT me. And im forced to go. With medical advancements it isnt that a big deal.

I do still get kind of excited about my birthdays still. I just miss celebrating them. Plus next year there will be one person less to celebrate it with...
But all in all, I just think the glimmer and shine of birthdays disappears as you get older and tend to get socks a lot more often. >>

i hate it when someone tells me that im older. Women LOVEEEE to hear that shit >.> trust me >.> nothing better than "YOURE OLD".
Jeez, way to perpetuate negative stereotypes about women, we're not all sensitive about our ages, just the vain ones I would wager.

Original Topic: Well, time for an interesting fact about turning 20, half your life is over... Not literally, but how we perceive it does.

You know how as you age, life/time seems to move faster? Well, the way we perceive it actually does. This has been measured and analyzed, and as it turns out, assuming the average lifespan in developed countries is about 80 years, the perception-adjusted half-way mark, is age 20...

Happy birthday

Honestly, I hate the question "So, your birthday is coming up - what do you want?"

I have everything I want, really. My PC, while a bit long in the tooth, still runs everything I play at max. settings. I have all the toys I want. There just isn't that much that I can look at and say "MUST HAVE NOW!", so I can't really answer the question.

Used to be that I'd have a list a mile long of parts for the PC, books, movies.... now, I can actually afford all that stuff, and I just go out and buy it when I need it.

/pushing 40.

Hey! I'll celebrate your birthday plenty when the time comes, don't fret! :D And no socks for you.XD

OT: I've never really had a good birthday, more or less, either one or both of my parents weren't there and it was really just me and me grandparents... They're really great but... I never really saw it as a positive thing.
