I hate the people who hate Ashley from Mass Effect.
Seriously, their angry mispelled accusations of 'racism' and 'relgious fanatcism' aside, their continued raging against one of my favorite characters makes it almost impossible for me to still play the game, or feel like I'm really a 'part' of the community.
My biggest problem is that I've seen this kind of hatred for a character before, namely it was the hate dished out to the Arbiter in Halo 2, and we all know what became of that. The most interesting character to date in the series is reduced to a sidekick and his presence in the plot all but diminished.
If that happened in Halo it can certainly happen in Mass Effect. All the hate and demands for blood because the character didn't instantly agree with them on Horizon could in turn lead to a negative result for the character in the third game.
I want to see the love interest subplot between Ashley and Shepard get resolved properly damn it, I don't want her to be pushed out of the plot again. Nor do I want to see her get turned into a ridiculous caricature of what she actually is, nor do I want to see her somehow become a villain.
If the Liara, Tali, Garrus and all other fanbases can get what they want then I demand the same. The character back in the story, and for all the haters to just shut up and leave it be.
Seriously, I've watched so many things about my favorite games that I love be pushed to the side or undervalued because the majority didn't care about them or actively disliked them. Please Bioware, not this time.
Wow, what a ramble.
