Argentina invaded our land in the 80s and in the same decade, cheated us out of the world cup. I still think it is a nice place :)
Great Britain invaded Buenos Aires on 1806 and 1807. Funny guys, tough. Aren´t Malvinas/ Falklands islands a colony?
I don't know, but it is still our land. Many people say that that war was stupid but at the end of the day, British land got invaded, so we defended it. I think it was the only thing Thatcher done right. Sure, we took that land earlier, along with many other places, but that was back when Britain ruled most of the world. Also, we brought a lot to our lands.

Not much. Che Guevara was born there, a tiny bit about tha Falkland war and Maxima is married to (knucklehead) prince Willem Alexander. Her father wasn't a nice guy and helped political dissidents dissappear quicker than Houdini. And that I'm still crying out for a republic, but that's all.

You guys cheated to beat Mexico in the '84(?) World Cup!

Seriously though, I had a really good friend in middle school whose parents were diplomats from Argentina. I learned a lot, but nothing ground shaking. You guys are a relatively stable democracy next to Chile, snuggled right up next to U-r-gay, and had a tiff with the British in the 80s over who could heard sheep on the Falkland islands.

I suppose, every argument has two sides. I can see where you are coming from, it is just that I am very passionate about that war as my father, uncle and father's friends served in it. Still, both you and I will never hear the full story from our countries, everyone wants to be the good guy.

It's in South America, the capitol is Buenos Aires. There is a big Italian influence.

Also it has a kickass flag.

However, my old Spanish teacher comes from there, so it can't be all good.

sorry for my ignorance...

Only that your government accuses the UK of "imperialism" because they maintain their right to the Falklands, while you simultaneously demand that you be allowed to rule over the islands dispite the fact that the population that doesn't want to be ruled by you and considers themselves British.

Oh hypocrisy, thy name is Argentina.

Also you have a fantastic soccer team, great food and some very interesting geography.

My personal opinion is that actually they should rule themselves. And, honestly, what country on the world wouldn´t want to be an "evil empire"? And of course they consider themselves british, they go to your schools, that´s what they teach them, the same thing happen with argentinians. Fucking nationalism.

Didn't your country have a Bureaucratic Authoritarian government during the 70s-80s? Did they try to restrict free trade in favor of import substitution, or was that just Brazil? Man, International Econ and Politics of Latin America are just really letting me down here.
Was actually a neoliberal military autoritarian government supported by the U.S. Like all the coups on Latin-America.
Yeah, that's what the BA regimes were. Guillermo O'Donnell coined the term in order to differentiate the military bureaucracy led authoritarian regimes of the Cold War era from the Caudillo-style regimes which were centered on a single strong personality.
