Usually don't listen to music when playing anything multiplayer. I tend to gravitate more towards stealth-oriented game modes (like Search and Destroy in Call of Duty games), so sound becomes extremely important. I feel sorry for the poor bastards that don't use Ninja Pro in MW2.
When I'm doing something single player and don't want to listen to the game (or have heard it so much that I'm tired of it), I have a mix of rock/techno/upbeat country/instrumental that I listen to.

Probably something that has no place being associated with the ass-whooping I will be handing out. Preferably technoish pop music or poppy techno. Possibly Neil Diamond. I hate it when my life makes sense.
It tends to pop into my head as an event is building. For example, in a match online or some intense battle in singleplayer game, just as I start to do well the song starts playing in my head. As I do better, the song builds. When (if) I get into a God-like zen mode wherein I'm just dominating everything, the song peaks.neonsword13-ops said:

I don't listen to music when playing online games, especially when playing Battlefield. I do however sometimes find myself humming the chorus to the great song of convict cannibalism "A Tale They Won't Believe" by Weddings, Parties, Anything...
