The PS3 has been a handy little media unit even when I'm not using it for gaming, and the Bluray gives it an edge there. Plus I just like the ascetics of the XMB instead of the 360's menu. Plus I bought the PS3 in anticipation for FFXIII and it just looks better in glorious 1080p uncompressed video XD

I love my Xbox 360 because I can play Halo and Mass Effect. I love it because of Gamerscore. I love it for Xbox LIVE. You know? I love everything about it. Except for the RROD.

I love my PS3 because........ ummmm........ It plays Resistance 1?

I had both a 360 and PS3. I was happy with both. My PS3 died after 7 years of heavy use (Reasonable I'd say) and I was left to play just my 360. Now I hate my 360.

It tries to sell me stuff on 5 stupidly annoying menus when I log in, not only when I'm in the store. It can't play my Blu-Ray movies. The controller constantly runs out of power and I have to get new batteries or pay extra money just so it can charge. Plus it's kind of annoyingly large. It can't run Steam through it's server structure. It has almost no good exclusive series. It eats game discs. Its store is annoying to navigate. It can't play all my fun PS3 games. I have to pay money to use its online service. Changing controller slots is stupidly difficult. Its store doesn't use actual money it uses "Microsoft Points". It had me pay money for Left For Dead updates that were free on Steam. It doesn't get wireless internet without a connecting device.

My PS3 didn't have those issues. I get a new one in about 3 weeks. The wait is killing me.

I read somewhere about some software you can download for your PS3(I believe it was legit, by Sony) that allowed you to play PS2 format software, as long as the game was compatible with installing data. I think that's what it was. I don't remember it perfectly buuut I don't feel up to searching for it right this moment. Just thought I'd let a fellow PlayStation fan know. :3

Nevermind, I searched anyway: http://community.us.playstation.com/thread/2345216?start=0&tstart=0 That's about it.
lol my friend heard something similar at one point and he told me about it, so I jumped straight on the PSN and downloaded the software. It didn't work. So I looked it up and found out that all it does is allows backwards-compatible PS3's install PS2-hard drive games. Which basically means "Download this program to be able to play Final Fantasy XI on your PS3... but only if it's already a backwards-compatible console". Piece of crap. I actually own FFXI so it probably would have been useful for me! /rage

Everyone I know who has an Xbox 360, had to get another one when it broke.
Every original Xbox controller I had (I think I had 3 or 4), stopped working within 3 years.

In short, I bought the PS3 out of a lack of faith in Microsoft, rather than out of any particular loyalty to Sony or it's products. That said, I haven't been displeased with it. It does what I want it to do, has the games I want. If anything, I will say that the Kinect seems to be the superior motion device so that is my biggest disappointment, the PS3 Move is not a body controller. I expect the future consoles will all support something like the Kinect, with additional controllers of various kinds of course for different games.

I prefer the 360 because the cross platform titles are generally cheaper used. For example, I bought my sister a used copy of Batman Arkham Asylum for her birthday (because I'm rather broke) for the PS3 for 35 USD. I looked at the used price on 360 and it was 20 USD. Outside of that, both platforms have good exclusives.

Cross game chat is an absolutely HUGE factor in preferring my Xbox, for me.

Also, my hands are too big to feel comfortable with the PS3 controller (and I don't think I'll ever get used to those convex analogue sticks :( )

Still, there is very little between them either way -- both are nigh-on identical.

Oh, and in terms of exclusives, both are pretty much the same imo: Xbox has Halo and Valve games, PS3 has Resistance and Uncharted.

In terms of exclusives from Valve I only know of Left 4 Dead 1+2 or are there others that i've missed?

I have an X-box and I love it for the reasons said, quick and reliable internet, readily available DLC, efficient dashboard that gives me lots of trailers, info, etc.,

But I only ever owned a PS2 before this so I can't say why it's better than PS3.

You sure? :D Got both systems and love both for their individual strengths. As for money the price difference isn't that big here in DK and usually games for thew ps3 are a little cheaper (depending on where you shop of cause) Adding the cost of xbl it propably evens out in the end:)

I like my PS3 because it has backward compatibility. Which begs the question, why did I not just stick with my PS2?
