Crazy Emperor Palpatine lookin' dude with a bullet-proof golf cart. The child-molester-sheltering still isn't quite as messed up as being against the use of condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS though.

But think about it! What better way to spread AIDs than by putting a barrier between the penis and the receiver!

The Pope is the leader of my faith and God's right hand man on Earth. I believe that this pope is not in any way insane or an evil man. I know that not all popes are infalliable (there was one that committed incest and beastiality after all) but I do believe that the modern day popes are far more pious than the ones from medieval times.

I'm not catholic so i don't two crosses about the Pope..but i think it's funny that he was a Hitler youth at one point. (Yes it's true Joesph Ratzinger aka Pope Benedict the XVI used to be a nazi supporter there's a swastika logo under that pope hat)
He was forced into the Hitler Youth, it was cumpulsary at the time. Look it up! He didn't support the Nazis! He tried his best not to attend the meetings! He wanted to be a priest, not a Nazi minister! I don't get worked up here easily, but don't call the leader of my faith a Nazi supporter when you don't know the facts! Besides, the Nazis were trying to down play the power of the Catholic Church during the war. The young Ratzinger had no interest in Nazism. Just because he was forced into the Hitler Youth doesn't make him a Nazi.

Well the juggling of priests who've molested children into other regions has been going on for decades, maybe even centuries, only now are people starting to realize what's going on...

Well I do harbor a strong dislike even a hate for him, and those like him. So my opinion may be biased...

Just my opinion though...

Even as a christian, I cannot say I like the pope. But that's more because of a personal belief than a response to any kind of scandal[footnote]The idea of having to go to someone else to get in contact with an all knowing, omnipresent god has always rubbed me the wrong way[/footnote].
But I suppose his handling of the child abuse situation is another reason to not be in his fanclub.

To be honest, he can do whatever he wishes. Secularisation is in effect hopefully which only means that his views may be becoming increasingly worthless to the point where they match to the importance of the English royal family.

Yeah, I think the Pope's overrated. He's just another man to me, and since I'm not Catholic I don't give a rat's ass what he dictates regarding the religion... or anything, really. He can have his little city in Europe, but he best not try to fuck with my life over here across the pond.

Of course! Obviously AIDS is in the condoms, and an uncovered penis is a safe penis!

I think he deserves prison time. Along with every other authority figure who allowed corrupt priests to abuse children.

I think that the pope should be barred from entering my country (Canada), based on the fact that he is the head of a state (remember that the Vatican is a country, with the pope as the head of state) that harbors child molesters. But because he's part of a religious organization he gets a free pass.

Imagine the shit-storm that any other head of state would be catching if their country was found to be harboring child molesters. The only exception that I can think of is the Saudi king (Saudis have no laws defining age of consent). But since that country is a theocracy he's basically their version of the pope anyway.

Not to be a worries-worth, but shouldn't this be in religion?

Though at LEAST to add something, the pope doesn't really have authority over other priests; only over specific Diocese. There will be a Supreme Court ruling for that, but the Pope has about as much to do with raping kids as tempur-pedic does to murder. Not that I defend this, I mean this is just wrong on all accounts, but the man's got nothing to do with it. That, and why would you spend money on a harmless 70 something year old man to keep him in prison. Hell the bastard's gonna die in 5 to 10 years time anyway.

He's stereotypically catholic.

Edit: I actually believe him that he wasn't a Nazi though. Its pretty sad, but funny in an ironic way.

Say what you like but there is no evidence. I still believe him though.

Honestly, the pope in and of itself is a very odd idea. One man who is the voice of God and is somehow mad infallable by his position doesn't really seem all that biblical and thus creates one of the porblems that has plagued the church through its loopy history. Throught the middle ages and recently peoples belief in these men has really sent them down paths that should not occur. And now as you have this sick pervert continuing to work *the pedo dude I mean* there and the church seemingly uncaring my disdain for this branch of my religion grows. They need to come out saying this crap isn't acceptable and crack down.
