I see a door, except the door has long been broken, ever since we got the house around 15 years ago.
So it is to the side of the doorway, a useless piece of wood. A flag bearing random soviet symbols drapes across the entrance. Through the doorway is a long corridor ending in a wide open window. Through this window is a stunning view of Penzance. Closer to hand is... wait what the hell is that thing? I see a wooden box thing right next to my computer desk. It is not a box but some sort of very small, badly made alcove protruding from the wall, not indented in it. Why don't I notice it? Perhaps it has been there so long I forget about it, it is just part of the room. But I cannot think of what it's use is. It's interior is covered by a wooden door. What do I do?

:eek:pen the door
:leave door

I open the door to reveal the dusty innards. Cobwebs string across the box's interior. The only item inside is a plastic wall fitting. It loosely resembles a plug, but both the wall fitting and the plug are larger than normal, and blockier. They seem almost unable to be removed from each other. On one side of it is a large, visually unpleasant switch. I have no idea what it does. It looks like it is stuck a little, and it is covered with cobwebs, and I have a phobia to spiders. What should I do?

:Remove the cobwebs with random large police torch I keep lying around for some reason?
:Flip switch with police torch?
:Leave switch alone.

I flip the switch with the police torch, it requires effort, it is very old and large. Once the switch is flipped the room goes dark, the computer shuts down and I will need to write this response again. Balls. Also I still have no idea why there is this thing in my room anyway but I guess it is important somehow.

So there you have it, I am not sure why I turned it into a adventure game but I think I was just enjoying the sense of adventure. And I also don't know why I went through the trouble of re-typing it again. But anyway at least you got an interesting response, or at least for me it was, now I know what is in that random wall-box. A doom button. I wonder if I have other random things stuck on the walls on other parts of my house?

Centre of vision, a blank wall. Out the corners of my eyes, a (dated) map of the world, a window with thick forest outside, an extension lead, a Rubiks Cube that remains infuriatingly unsolved, a scientific calculator, hole punch, USB hub, a piece of paper with various notes scribbled on, an empty bottle of dandelion and burdock.

I see a vanity dresser, a jade Chinese dragon, my collection of rocks, my memento of the Lincoln memorial, my alarm clock, the puzzle I made that only three people have solved, my replica of the US Declaration of Independence, my Xbox 360 & Wii boxes in my closet, my glass chess set, my retired lava lamps, and my shirts hanging from an iron rod.

And dark blue carpet.

An inverted plastic crate lid with random Lego parts on it (sometimes I fiddle with it in front of the computer), a stack of magazines with a few books on top (notably (1) a Russian History textbook (2) an art philosophy textbook (for a class I accidentally enrolled in) (3) a Classical Mythology texbook and (4) My Tank Is Fight!) and a disc folder on top of those (full, with 48 CDs and DVDs for various games), behind that a stack of CD cases, besides that two stacks of keep cases for various games, many of which are now in the disc folder, and behind those a 7.62mm NATO blank cartridge belt box that I use to keep pens, pencils and other assorted detritus in. To my front left is a 1-litre carafe that I drink whatever I've got a taste for (soft drinks and water only, I'm only a social drinker) from, and beside that a Halo Plasma Pistol toy a I got from a friend for my birthday. (I say "toy", but only for teens and above. It's big (bigger than you'd expect) and heavy.)
