Man I hope you can choose your character this time, instead of one set guy.

I want Super Smash Brothers: Console Wars. Make a Smash Bros that releases for XBox360, PS3, AND Wii, and has the top characters from all systems. Lets say 8 each...

Couple picks...
X-Box360/Microshaft
-Master Chief
-Arbiter or a Gold Elite
-Mass Effect dude
-Big Daddy (Bioshock)

Wii/Nintendo
-Samus
-Bowser
-Link (Twilight Princess one, so he can Wolf morph)
-Kirby
-Conker

PS3/Sony
-Sephiroth
-Bahamut (Any FF except X's)
-Spyro
-Ratchet/Clank
-Dante (DMC)
-Tommy Vercetti (Vice)

C'mon. Who else?
ARE YOU FU*KING KIDDING, WHERE THE HELL IS KRATOS ON UR SONY LIST?!?!?!?

I'm really excited for this game, I think it's going to be great, but I hope this is the last one. They can't really do anything more than what they've already done with this game, so it can only get worse from there, and before you know it you just have another stale franchise that needs to be taken out back behind the barn and put down for good.
Well, they could expand on single-player more and throw in a few more characters like Ridley, Waluigi, and Megaman but that's about it. The worst case scenario is, it'll end up like Street Fighter (not bloody likely though), but at least we can all agree that it would be an improvement, like how Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo is an improvement upon Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior.

Oh, how I've been resisting responding to this thread.

I helped run a gaming club at the college I attended. And I ran SSBM tournaments for it. Sufficed to say, being stuck in a room for 6+ hours with fanatical smash players who play on the SAME level with the SAME characters with the SAME cheap tactics...tends to make you hate the game. Along with the people who play it religiously. And that pink bunny hopping around the room...

Anyway, I still retain some enjoyment of the game, deep down inside, and I am looking forward to Brawl's release. It makes me happy to hear that they reworked the physics system to get rid of those "gameplay features" like wavedashing (known as glitches to the non-fanatical world). What absolutely infuriates me, though, is the return of CLONES. Come on, HAL! You've delayed the game for how long, and there's STILL clones in it? It's acceptable that some returning characters would play similiar to their old counterparts, but Ganondorf being a Falcon clone AGAIN is simply unacceptable. I'd rather have a lineup of 30 unique characters than a lineup of 34 characters with 8 clones.

As for future games? I read somewhere on the forums of someone's idea for the single player mode. Something about travelling to each games universe and playing through it with respective smash players. I think that could work out to be pretty neat. But to be sure, if they release another iteration, I hope they incorporate some more gameplay ideas.

I hope they left him just as irritating as before. They'd better have brought back The Knee.
Oh yeah. The Falcon Knee is in. Only it's harder to connect, but it stops time and makes a "BOOOMM" sound on impact.

Also, the physics system has been reworked so that there is more focus on aerial battles. If someone gets knocked off the stage, and they don't die before regaining control, they'll most likely recover, so you'll need to master intercepting them in midair. Some characters can even attack after using their Up B move.

Here's a good match between Ike and Captain Falcon.

I'm also glad to see wavedashing gone. But just cus I never got good at it so blegh. Psycho Mantis would be ill, oh man. Personally I wanna see The alien hominid get in. That guy would be perfect.

Personally I always question how well Nintendo has balanced their multi-player game. It seems to me that ever since Melee or so, there have been a handful of supremely excellent fighters in a sea of truly horrible ones, and indeed this is the case for a lot of different fighters out there. If not for Guilty Gear's impeccable, systematic approach to fighter balancing (or so I've been told) I probably would have labeled it a hopeless cause and have pledged never to create a fighting game so long as I live. Sadly this hasn't rubbed off on Brawl, so I can gladly enjoy having my rear handed to me on a fancy silver platter for years to come while everyone else goes about in drunken revelry declaring it the best game ever yet again.

That and the concept for the Subspace Emissary is a load of horrid fan-fiction waiting to be unleashed onto the internet.

They've apparently balanced the game more by making the heavy characters like Ike and Bowser better. Some characters have slow moves that can't be interrupted, like Ike's Aether and Ganondorf's Falcon Punch. So it seems the game won't be entirely dominated by Captain Falcon/Fox/Falco/Marth/Sheik/Ice Climbers like Melee.

I am certainly in the very quiet minority here in that I have never really enjoyed the SSBB series. I have tried to get into the excitement, I purchased the gamecube version the day it came out and after a day or 2 of fun I got bored with it. I am certain I will buy the game for the wii, but I fear the same results.

I think for me the game seems more geared for younger gamers. Maybe I just need to try playing the game against some skilled players. Most of my matches turned into button mashing contests. I cannot really put my finger on why I didn't like the game, but it is enough of an enigma to make me take yet another shot at it on the wii. Perhaps I will get the original on the VC if they release it as rumored.

Yeah, the computer is crap to play against. I played against a friend a while ago, then went back to playing against the computer. UGH. They're way too straightforward and predictable. No mindgames or anything.

Fortunately, the AI is improved upon, or at least from what I've heard. They do things like short hops and fast falling.

For multiplayer, there are co-op modes for Subspace Emissary, Multi-Man Melee, and Homerun contest, which is good for me because most of my friends aren't as good as I am.

Dude, don't give them ideas.

EDIT: I would also like to add that I am indeed excited for this game because SONIC'S IN BRAAAAAWL.

I hope they give Fox, Falco, and Wolf different Final Smashes.

All the gameplay videos just show them dropping in a tank. With different colors!

If they had replaced Nes and his clones with Raz from Psychonauts I swear I'd sell my kidney if needs be to get a Wii and this game, even if they just make him a clone of someone else. As is, I don't really think about it much.

I can't say I'm too hyped about it. I liked melee a lot but it was only fun when I had friends to play with. The online and stage builder looks cool but just not enough to justify buying a Wii.

or maybe cortez, from timesplitters..... NO, the ultimate in all of gaming, the one, the only, L BLOCK!!!!!

They should have put in Missingno as the ultimate WTF character, with an L-Block as one of its costumes. Also, Kirby's down B should involve him turning into an X-Box and doing more damage than usual.

As for my first character, I'll try out Zero Suit Samus.
