What do you think are the best online forums?

So I've been a "part" of the Escapist community for some time now, though it's not the only forum that I frequent. Overall I'd definitely consider it a pretty good one from my own personal experience. However, I'm curious as to what you've all found to be the best forums you've gone on.

Obviously what qualities warrant the title of "best" are very subjective. Best might mean a community that's the most welcoming, most intelligent, most politically correct, most refined, most interesting to your personal tastes, funniest or whatever else is particularly important to you. Just be sure to say why you think it's the best (even if you choose the Escapist itself). thanks for your answers.

I really like the discussions that happen on the Well and Sifter (which is probably the most obscure one) as they are highly intellectual and I don't think there any stupid people or trolls there. Here is my personal favourite for relaxed conversations that occasionally hit some interesting points, but aren't meant to be very indepth or require much time.

For me it is the escapist. So far its the only forums I've ever been on where people actually support thier arguments instead of just saying "agree with me or yore stupid"(typo intentional). Whether its a serious, controvesial topic or just talk about ice cream flavors, I prefer it here (even if my post count doesn't show it too well). Also there isn't any racism or homophobia, and that's nice.

I like the escapist (obviously) and the serebii.net forums seemed to be pretty good (haven't gone there in a while).

I think my favorite though, is the Fakku.net forums. The user comments people post are often as good as the porn itself.

I like the Middle Ground forums. Home of the best Homestuck, Sonic, and MLP fans on the internet (I'm sorry, but as much as I love the first two, and am apathetic of the latter, a way-too-vocal portion of all three fandoms is just god-awful).

I actually frequent 4chan and I quite like it over there, everyone is truly free and open about what they think, this is not as pretty as some would hope it is but I love it none the less.

also of course i happen to like the escapist here, generally nice place, to many prudes around here though.

Why, of course! Where else would you find find the most intelligent, mature, thought provoking debates on the internet?!

I started my forum life as a younger version of myself on Neopets. From there I went over to Gamespot which is what really got me interested in forums and I lived there for a few years. *Until Jeff got fired

I came over to The Escapist in 2010 *This is my second profile* and since then Escapist has been my favorite forum and I don't really use any other forums anymore. I can't really imagine a better forum than this one! It is mature, friendly, met some great people, has excellent topics, great humour, awesome moderators. It is like perfect.

I mostly browse this site and am more of a lurker on others.

Takes a while for me to come out of my shell really. I comment on other sites, but not other forums really.

Even with some of the negativity, it's still the friendliest forum I've come across.

In the before times I spent all my time on the SissyFight2000 boards (yes, that was a real thing), they went under in 2008 and since then I've lived here.
Any other boards I might visit are just for asking specific advice (usually on games).

Ehh I find it pretty hit and miss; certainly better than a few places (whirlpool/reddit) that seem to attract the imbeciles who can't approach a topic with an open mind and refuse to leave their biases/preconceptions at the door of any topic.

That usually doesn't happen here but it can still creep in as evidenced in things like DS3 topics where half the posts are "omg it'll suck, I'll totally pirate it/tell everyone how much I hate it to show them how much I hate their game lol"

When I first created an account here (after being a lurker since the sites inception) I think the people were better then as the site wasn't particularly big, and if you go out of your way to find this place then you seemed to be the kind of person willing to have fun (yet heated with only minimal bias) arguments with each other.

Now you have to watch where you step.

My very first forum was the Smosh.com forums, which while I was there (2006-2008) were actually very good. Ever since they redesigned the site, though... all of the cool users left. It's an unfunny, childish shell of its former self. Last I saw it, at least.

Since then, I've been here. Pretty much exclusively. So, Escapist forum is best forum in my opinion.
