Personally I think the parents killed her by accident.

My theory is that the kids were lively and loud so the parents gave them prescription drugs and the girl overdosed.

I don't buy that she was taken when the parents left them unsupervised while they ate at a restaurant in a foreign country, that's something no decently responsible parent would do, let alone licensed medical practitioners.

You're making an assumption that they were responsible parents. When all the evidence indicates otherwise.

Now I'll admit, I wasn't following this case very closely when it was in the media all the time, because it my opinion, it crossed the line between providing information in an attempt to find her, into sensationalism to sell copy, which I find repulsive. But come on, at this point, she's been 'missing' for longer than she was with her parents.

As others have said, she is most likely dead. I mean, what are the options were looking at here? She was either killed, or sold into child prostitution. Which is the better outcome here?

I don't buy all these conspiracy theories that the parents did it. I do buy that they sucked at being parents, which is how this incident happened in the first place, but at most I am only willing to beleive that they may have been somehow tangentially involved in some dumb kidnapping plot which unfortunately went wrong. Just like that episode of Spooks with Andy Serkis.

I won't say her parents were obviously involved, but I do think it's likely. Something about all the interviews just struck me as being off, then there was a lot of stuff that came to light, like blood traces in the back of the car (If I'm remembering correctly, 5 years is a fair whack of time.)

I subscribe to the idea of innocent until proven guilty.

Because often courts are tied down with bureaucracy.

O.J. was found to be innocent even in the face of overwhelming evidence, and then went on to release a book titled [sub][sub][sub]if[/sub][/sub][/sub] I DID IT. In which he outlined a hypothetical way of carrying out the murders.

It's pretty clear he did it, but it couldn't be proven.

And I totally ascribe to innocent until proven guilty, I just like to keep in mind that it's not always possible to prove that someone is guilty. Burden of proof is a harsh mistress.

The O.J. trial is the poster case for obvious guilt despite the verdict. It's become somewhat of pop-culture reference for miscarriages of justice and the dangers of 'double jeopardy'.

Its not that its the fact that most people are acting like they dont care, or they're glad.

Most people don't really care about people they have no social ties to whatsoever. It may seem harsh at first but you really couldn't live a life if you genuinely gave a shit about every single person that you heard bad things happening to on the news, you'd literally live every moment in sorrow.

If making jokes helps people along with not living like that, totally fine by me.

My theory was that they accidentally overdosed her on sleeping pills, because I read on some newspaper that they gave their children sleeping pills. That's about as irresponsible as leaving the apartment door open and no babysitter in a foreign country while you dine at a restaurant with friends.

I don't think prostitution rings did it because they kidnapped Madeline but left her two siblings; if it was a kidnapping it was more likely some person who wanted to adopt but couldn't because he/she had no money or lacked something else or wanted a kid with a specific look (or something like that) or someone with a grudge against the parents, in which case all the children would have been targeted, not just Madeline.

Usually lone "Adoption Kidnappers" are spur of the moment criminals, those guys almost always fuck up and get caught, the disappearance from the face of the earth for 5 years is highly unlikely.

That's just my reasoning, I could be wrong but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to think.
