What do you think is going to happen in Assassin's Creed 3?

I've been turning this idea over in my head for a long time, and I think that I might have an idea of what *might* happen in the next "Proper" Assassin's Creed game.

To make a long story short, I think Altair is alive, and will either be an ally to Desmond and the gang, or the final boss who you have to change and rescue from the grips of the evil Apple of Eden.

The reasons why I think this?

-The last Codex page is Altair discussing how much he wants to look at the Apple one last time.
- In the Assassin's Creed handbook, they state Altair's death date as unknown (That's what really convinced me on this theory)
- In a trilogy -if that's what this turns out to be- anyone who watched the Scream movies know that in a trilogy, it always goes back to the beginning, and in this case, the beginning is Altair.
- It would be really fucking cool.
- If the Apple can do things like control men's minds, who's to say that it can't do other things as well? (Or if Altair came across another Piece of Eden that could make someone immortal)

So there's my list of why I think Assassin's Creed 3 will be amazing feature Altair.

Do you have any theories of what will happen?

And for a little more discussion value: Have you ever guessed what will happen in a sequel and been totally right?

Except for the rather unavoidable fact that humans are quite incapable of staying alive for a thousand years.

How about Desmond just kills some guys?

I'd really enjoy a modernized game, set in the city setting, but I'd be happy with some sort of return to both Altair and Ezio in the same game.

Also, if you paid close attention to detail, Altair came into possession of The Shroud, which is a special Piece Of Eden, (notice, there not called apples) which grants immortality, and was last seen on Jesus, before Altair got it. Its said he wove it into his armor, which leads many to believe thats what makes the armor in Assassins Creed 2 important, however, that may not be the case. So, yes, it could be very possible that Altair is live an kicking. This could explain why the person before Desmond went insane, because he realized this truth.

I stopped taking the storyline of Assassin's Creed seriously after that ending scene in the Vatican. No matter what Ubisoft does now, they can't possibly make it more ridiculous than that.

Can they?

I definitely missed that- was it in Altair's Chronicles? I never played it.

Well I think there's going to be some building climbing, magical impact cushioning piles of hay, more stabbing of dudes and a plot noone really cares about because everyone gets this game to stab dudes. Right?

And also, they'll add another hidden blade, like in his boot or something.

I only cared about the plot within the story. For example, Etzio's story with his family and friends, etc. Once it panned out into the larger story arch with bad sci fi, I really didn't care.

I'm the same way. I could not care less about the Science Fiction aspect to the series, but I loved the story of Ezio and am willing to deal with the mystical/doomsday conspiracy stuff as a means to explore more characters like him.

I actually really like that sci-fi story, it sounds like it's going to be a pretty complicated story, which i enjoy in my sci-fi. However i do feel as though they could have made it an entirely different game. I absolutely love the world they created with Italy, the story, and everything, but all that sci-fi stuff blending into the world just pulls me out of the experience of feeling a part of that world because the game constantely makes sure you remember that it's a sci-fi game.

OT: I really hope that the game is either all in modern times where you control Desmond who, after living through the lives of two of the best assassin's in the world, should be the most ass-kicking, face-stabbing, epic-oozing man in all the universe and time. Or the game is broken up into 2 big parts, one half in the animus in control of another assassin, or Altair after the events of the first game, and the second half be like what i mentioned before.

I've been waiting for two games to be able to play as Desmond in all his supposed glory everyone in the second game was telling me, and the second AC gave such a short time to play as him with the blades i cried.

I think there will be lots of assassinations (most with blades mounted to the wrist) and lots of climbing buildings... and and maybe some sci-fi nonsense interspersed in the story. Of and Desmond being unlikeable and boring whenever he's on screen.

As far as I'm concerned, the Desmond's story doesn't really matter. I prefer the stories of the assassin's that he relives. Personally, I would like to see a female assassin, a slightly more modern era like Colonial America or Industrial Revolution (I only said slightly more modern).

Basically this. http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/20100329

what scene are you talking about?

anyway. i think altiar being alive is a little silly. i could maybe see you being able to play him in the preset day setting because after all the animus stuff desmon has lost his mind a little and believe he is altiar or ezio with there memories and stuff. all confused by the new world and assassinate the wrong people.

The one after the final boss fight in AC2, when you go into the back room and the origin of the human race is explained to Desmond.

I think Ubisoft is going to continue the use of their horrible DRM and I won't buy the game.

They won't do the modern setting yet, though that's where they'll end up. I suspect the guys who are doing this are so fond of history and architecture, they'll work their way through important eras and locations in history, I suspect something in China and Japan, something in edwardian or victorian England, HIGHLY probably one set during the revolution in France, and perhaps something set in the two great wars. Also maybe cold war era russia or something. Then it'll work it's way up to modern times and the culmination of Desmond's story.

They WILL pump like 10 games out of this franchise, but I'm not complaining as long as they're still good.
