I like most of the sub-genres of metal but the two I've been listening to the most are Dethcore and metalcore. It really depends on my mood but I listen to almost all of the sub-genres but the two just mentioned are the ones I have been listening to the most recently.

"The best" is not the way I'd put it, but my favourite subgenre is doom metal, especially the kind that My Dying Bride play.

i listen to them all frequently as well. Im really big on folk metal and ive been listening to a lot of symphonic metal lately. Ive never been to big on dethcore though. i can see the appeal but its just not for me

I prefer refractory, myself. You hear these losers talking about their aluminum and iron alloys, and you know they just got into it. I'm talking about Niobium and Silicon and Tungsten, son, not some puny rubbish. Titanium, Chromium, Molybdenum, fool. You know you can't step to those. And don't even pretend you can lay down like Halfnium and Tantalum, you little--

What?

Music? Oh. My mistake. No, I can't help you there. Music isn't my highest interest.

Gotta love djent, really enjoying those bands at the moment. But apart from that, like southern groove metal style stuff is probably my favourite.

I was like that when I first heard of it but it just grew on me until I started listening to it frequently. It strangely helps me think when I'm writing too, In fact all of my music does that to the point I play certain sub-genres for different events when I'm writing. My one friend still has no idea why I do it XD

Drone....

Only Joking, it's mostly rubbish (Sunn O)))) is my most hated band).

Progressive Metal is defiantly my favourite by far, that and Power Metal are the only metal genres I like.

A very powerful medium indeed. Some people may disagree (most of my RL friends) but it is still the best genre in my opinion :p

I listen to most sub-genres and appreciate most of them. But as for what is my favourite?
Just recently I've been getting into a lot more of black metal. But I'd say thrash and Sludge are still my two favourites.

For me, as far as my favorite genres go, are Symphonic (or Orchestral if you will), Folk, and Power Metal. I like hearing traditional metal instrumentation with a bit of the non-traditional, preferably orchestral arrangements.
