I agree, just played it recently and was blown away. That giant war train was AWESOME, plus Mike Patton's vocal talents... yes please.Marv21 said:The Darkness!
I also think Psychonauts was a little over hyped by the community. Playing it at the moment and it's fun but doesn't really compell me to finish it like some games do. I give it a meh+.Nigh Invulnerable said:Wow, everyone has said Psychonauts or Beyond Good and Evil. I think that would be hyped, whether it was official hype before release or fan hype afterwards makes no difference. Everyone on the Escapist has these games' nuts in their mouths or something. I like them too, but I don't think they're as underappreciated as we all think.
Fear not, you are not alone! I too know of Kessen. Though I'd say Kessen 1 was the best, then 2 then 3. Not to say 2 and 3 weren't awesome, just 1 was my personal favourite, though 2 had the familiar characters from the 3 kingdoms so was fun, and 3 had different characters but was more comical and lighthearted, also it had ninjas.Torque669 said:Kessen 2. I loved that game and nobody I know knows about it. All they think Koei did was Dynasty Warriors.
I thought Psychonauts was a wonderfully charming game, I just think it gets tons of hype from the cult these days, and is thus no longer underrated or un-hyped.miracleofsound said:I agree, just played it recently and was blown away. It is indeed a very charming game, and the atmosphere and visuals are top notch for its time. I can't quite place my finger on why it isn't doing much for me... perhaps it genuinely is a case of over hype.Nigh Invulnerable said:I thought Psychonauts was a wonderfully charming game, I just think it gets tons of hype from the cult these days, and is thus no longer underrated or un-hyped.miracleofsound said:I agree, just played it recently and was blown away. On topic, a game liked Armed and Dangerous is a perfect example of a game that got little attention before release. I'd say it has since gained a bit of a cult following, but it's still a fairly unhyped game.
I bought it because Id played his Pirates game and I loved Civ Rev. So goddamn fun especially when Gandhi was Nuking everyone. You can not laugh any harder. I lost my disc though ... I am still pissed off with that too this day.Conveant0 said:Civilization Revolution for the 360. I bought C&C3 before hand, thought the controls were just unnecessarily complicated (The PC controls were infinitely better), then Civ Rev came up from no where, no way near as complicated and it was always a fun and stress relieving experience to play... and about 4 people on the planet bought it.
Oh damn, I forgot about Viewtiful Joe! Holy shit! hahaha that was an awesome game indeed <3ShoryukenDude said:Dunno if this really works here, but at least I dont remember any real pre-release hype.
Veiwtiful Joe. At least the first one.
It wasent exactly underrated. Most of the reviews I saw of it were great, but I heard little to no fan hype after the games release. It literally takes my friends a few minutes to remember what im talking about when I mention this game. Maybe it just seems that way to me.
