What do you think is the best underrated no-hyped game

I'm gonna say both the STALKER games because i picked it up off the shelf on a whim and loved it, (chances of 3rd STALKER?)

Freespace. I like big (huge) ships 600 times bigger than mine fighting on the same level, and me dodging.

Pretty much this. My best mate and I are about the only people I know personally that have ever played it, and I know quite a few gamers. I still have Freespace 2 SCP installed on all my machines and I play it frequently. I love making impossible missions for myself. So much awesome contained in a game...

Oh, it's such a sweet game. I modified the missions to be multiplayer until I realized someone else had already done that, and had lan-parties with a few friends. Oh, good old days.

SCP makes it look so good now, too.

Agreed. The high res textures and particles are still pretty awesome-looking even to today's standards. Too bad there won't be a Freespace 3. I'd even settle for a new space sim that didn't suck, but it's pretty niche. :[

ArmA & 2: Hyped and acclaimed
Psychonauts: Every living gamer knows about this game and it's virtues.
Left4Dead: If you think this game went unhyped (or was underrated) then please get your head out of the ground.

I would have to say Syberia. See? Never hyped, reviews were around 80, but should have been more like 100/100.

left 4 dead hype wasn't around in my area, so that kinda sucked for me

Otogi: Myth of Demons, is yet another example of this as a game that came out practically unnoticed and was amazing.
Also I'm tempted to say Dead Space because I had a lot of fun with it yet no one seems to give it a second thought.

Im gonna say Left 4 Dead, cause from where im around, whenever my friends and I got to talk about upcoming games, i mentioned Left 4 Dead a lot and they haven't heard of it until a week before release. Also on forums like this one, never talked about it, or knew about it. It turned out to be one of the best games ever made.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R: SoC and Cs, Fahrenheit, Odin Sphere.
I have to ask.. has anyone here finished Clear Sky? Have they patched it yet? I want to be able to finish it, rather than get 15 hours in and it just die on me...?

Personally i don't think that there isn't a game isn't hyped by the people who enjoyed it


but if i must: The original .Hack// games: Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, Quarantine, the best simulated mmorpg i've ever played i only say this because there are too few people i know who have played them
Not only was the story great but the way the game literally evolved throughout each part

by that i mean they tweaked the ai and other things alot and by the third game it was perfect

Seriously,CAPCOM need a next gen. version of this. Fuck all that RE bollocks and get back to Ancient Rome.

HELL yes! The stealth sections were a bit iffy, but the fun of crushing a midget under the weight of a Grand Maul is more than enough to make up for it.

Defo the best underrated game - i spent months searching for it again for the ps2 and then I noticed the Xbox version under classics

Depends if it was all those things when they bought it, for instance I'd never heard of Oddworld when I got it (i think electronic boutique, now game, had a 2 for £20 of similar deal)
