The anonymity.

It really does bring the worst out in people. Hell, I'm almost never anonymous on the internet, unless it's really needed. I have my name, my photo, and my country all up on my profile, but a lot of people just totally abuse it to act like what they really are, scumbags and arrogant ones at that.

Trolls, and dating site advertisements.

1) Trolls: Why? Are you that pleased with yourself that you have to trash anything you come across with some degree of popularity that you're not into just to piss some people off and laugh at them? Let's use a common example here: Twilight. If you gave the series a chance and still hate it, fine, at least you tried, and I applaud you. But if you hate it because you don't want to read or you hate the fame and hype, you need to consider that there are things you're also into that other people hate, and that you'd feel pissed if people started needlessly bashing for no reason other than to piss you off. Side note: I used to HATE Twilight, got persuaded to read the first 4 chapters of it, after which I could put it down if I still hated it. I went on to read the rest of the books.

2) Dating advertisements. Sure maybe some people use them and actually find happiness through them. Myself personally, I hate them. I've already got a girlfriend that I'm totally crazy about, I don't need adverts of "single" girls that dress like whores for the sake of a picture to reel horny guys in. Get a life, go out, and physically talk to girls. True tip is true.

Trolls. I was introducing my friend to left 4 dead for the first time, and he wasn't sure whether he actually liked the game or not yet. And once we found a server this guy kept joining, shouting racial slurs and shooting us. Drove my friend away very fast.

The teenagers who pose as misanthropes over forums because they think it's cool. The teenagers who post threads about how different they are to everyone else. The teenagers who post up their philosophical ideals while believing that they are the first person to have ever thought of them. And of course all the pseudo-intellectual threads, and the threads where the poster claims that they have found a reason why "maths doesn't work" while breaking one or several simple mathematical laws.

The off topic section of this site has been full of all of those kinds of things since I started coming on here, but the gaming section tends to be ok and that's what I come here for. The religion and politics forum was a godsend for filtering out a lot of that crap from the main boards though.

I'll agree with you on that. The "I'm so deep and smart, but people don't like me 'cause I'm an asshole so I don't like them in return. Follow me on Twitter!" crowd.

And I hate how some people use the Internet at a quick ego boost by posting their "art" and claiming its going to set the world aflame. This is why I don't like to associate with "artists," much less "artists" on the Internet.

I'll second you on that.

I mean, I post my "art" on the internet, but hey, at least I openly admit I'm terribad.

Also: People who post black and white photos in an attempt to appear "deep". Dude, you're not deep, you're not a pro photographer - you just look like an idiot 75% of all the other "artists" on the internet.

"Yeah, I totally took this photo of my tits, holding a rose to my heart, but liek, omg, the picture is in black and white and the rose is in colour. Man, I'm deep."
