What do you think is the most hated game(s) on the Escapist.

I don't think this is a good idea seeing as this will give haters an excuse to hate.

I do agree that the Call of Duty series gets a lot of hatred form here. I love the series and its ok if you don't like it, but there should be no reason for all this hate.

Agreed. I'm always neutral in all these hatred vs. hype wars. I just don't like FPS's because I suck at multiplayer on them, but it does seem pretty good compared to some other games of that genre. I just don't care for those kinds of games.

The most hated game is probrably Modern Warfare 2(I know people hate the whole series, but to specify), or my guess, Oblivion. Although, there are an equal amount of people who like it as well.

GET LOST, Oblivion couldn't possibly be the most hated game on the escapist, it's not some people's cup of tea but it's not hated in the slightest.

Kane & Lynch 2 seems to have few friends here, possibly partly due to the epic beating it was given by Yahtzee.

MMOs in general don't seem to be very well regarded either, or much discussed, so WoW must be up there as well... or down there, I suppose.

The general consensus:

-Anything NOT by Valve, Bioware, Bethesda, or any other pro-pc companies.
-PS3 exclusives, or former 360-exclusive games, or the PS3 ports (remember the "Mass Effect 2 on PS3 is the best version" thread? It was a sea of flame!), seem to catch a lot of flack. For that matter; any non-PC port seems to get a lot of hate. It's just that PS3 ports get more hate.
-Whatever Yahtzee doesn't care for. It's true. Even though he says he doesn't give a damn if you take his word for it or not (he's a critic, not a reviewer. He's more like Jay Sherman than Roger Ebert. Yes, I know Jay Sherman is not a real person.), people still seem to go by what he says.

Yeah um... you all realize that the people who hate on otherwise popular games are all jaded assholes living in their parents' basement who hate the fact that people like something that they don't like, right?

The people who make up long drawn out explanations about why Bioshock, Fallout, Portal, WOW, Mass Effect, Half Life, Assassin's Creed, or Halo are "bad" games, are just the worst type of people.

These games might not be right for you, but just remember that if you dislike any of these games YOU ARE IN THE MINORITY OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE PLAYED THEM. Don't believe me? Check the sales figures and then come back and apologize for doubting me.

Personally, I didn't buy CoD Black Ops because I'm bored of FPSs. Although, I guess you could legitimately claim that you don't like Activision and not be a total douchebag...

What I am really curious about is why Dawn Of War II is on the most played Xbox Live list....did it get ported when I wasn't paying attention?

Anyway, the ones that get the most vocal hate are probably the Call of Duty games, MW2 and Black Ops to be precise. But its mostly a vocal minority. It was Halo and Fallout 3 before them, and I'm sure it will change when something new comes out.

Oh how wrong you are...
IMO, Halo Wars is the best console RTS that has been released (not exactly a difficult market to conquer) Still, Halo games aren't very good in the first place, the only reason they are so popular is because they 'set a bar for all future FPS games' to reach, the Halo franchise should just crawl into a corner and die. But don't mistake me for a troll, I used to love Halo, but I think, like Sonic the Hedgehog (but to a lesser extent) the Halo franchise is dead and should quit while it's ahead.

I'm not really going to say Call of Duty or Halo since I feel most people who hate these games only hate certain ones, never played them, or really never cared for the genre in the first place.

I'm an avid FPS player and I still hate the Call of Duty series except CoD 1 and 2, I've played every Call of Duty game and I am more disappointed every time, which is why I now wait for my brother to buy them then steal them for a quick stress session. Hyuk Hyuk Hyuk!
