It's out already in places? It's not out here till tomorrow. Anyways I can't wait to get my hands on it. For the people who have it, what's the campaign like? Are all the levels platforming or do they take advantage of the ability to make levels of different genres?

I'm only up to the third set of levels, but so far they've only been side-scrolling platformers unfortunately. Wellm, not that that's a bad thing, by any stretch of the word, because side-scrolling platformers are awesome.

Feels like the original with added imagination. More than enough added in the first two worlds to justify this as a stand-alone game... but has a nice add-on feel since you can import everything over from LBP1.

Only complaint I have involves the fully acted cutscenes. The game does a wonderful job of bringing childhood imagination to life but I think the all too traditional cutscenes don't quite fit. I can see a number of ways to "fix" it.

1) Full on, over-the-top panto performances. I can't help but wish that the cast of Black Adder II joined their old cast-mate.
2) Have Stephen Fry do all the voices and channel the feeling of being read a story.
3) Have children do the characters, to reinforce the notion that we're children playing.

But overall, I'm having a blast and don't regret buying the collector's edition. I even put a dress on my Judge Dredd sackboy for the ocassion... and Clu's disk.

Controls still felt really floaty to me, from the demo at least.

I'll wait until the inevitable GOTY edition.
The jump is improved (now it's based on how long you hold the button, not how hard you hit it), but controls are still a bit off. Especially when moving on the z-axis. Most of the control issues I have are because of the physics engine. Trying to build momentum with rollers and grappling hooks is really tough.

I have it but I haven't played it yet. I'll probably get started this weekend.

What I'm really looking forward to is all the creations people make. The new level creator is much more robust. Some of the ideas I've heard people talk about, man... those people have a lot of patience.
Yeah the level creator is really robust. I am going to attempt an Amnesia-inspired leveled. Though I probably won't capture the same horror. I can still go for some interesting atmosphere. So far though, I still need to get some more materials from the story.

Where I am so far is a ten second cutscene.
Ooh! Sounds interesting. Make sure to share it when you are finished! :D

I got it for my girlfriend yesterday and so far, she's been completely absorbed by it. She think's its' awesome. As for my own thoughts, they'll have to wait until I actually get a chance to play the game (perhaps when she's asleep...)

Well I really don't know what its like... I'm fucking pissed because if your account is set to chat disabled it will not let you play multiplayer. So I pretty much have to make a new account because Sony doesn't allow you to change your chat settings. However LBP1 doesn't let me copy my account anymore so I have to redo LBP1 and LBP2 which is fucking retarded. I will try to contact Sony to get this straightened out. So, right now I'd say LBP2 is stupid and dumb.

The z-axis is the part that totally wrecks the game for me. It's mere existence ruins everything for me.

I feel that what LBP2 is is what the original LBP should have been. The game is sandbox in the same way that Garrys mod is, and in those types of games there shouldnt be sequels. Its kind of like they launched Garrys mod 2 now, it would be akward. It makes a bit of sence if it was in a new engine but in the LBP it would only make sence if it was for the next Sony's console.

Either way, the game is good and creative people should enjoy it. I feel that the game has a big role in the gaming industry.

The fourth world they start mass introducing a lot of extra things. Like robotic bunnies you hop around in, classic 1943 flight games (only you're on a bee), and later they have a fixed speed top down race track that you need to avoid obstacles in.

OT: They needed a new game for all the things they added in the world generator and the new game mechanics (Bionic commando swing style that has Worms Armageddon ninja rope physics, what's not to love?). The game is shorter than the first one, but I enjoyed it a lot more too.

PS: Why did they bother with a plot? It's not like we needed one in the first place.

Yeah, I've finished all the story levels now, but I still need to go back through most of them again to see if I have the stickers for some of the sticker sensor bits. They tend only to appear after the level in which they're needed, or later on in the same level. Other than that, I can probably move on to making levels. To be honest, I don't even think it's possible to make proper 3D platformers, as robust as the level editor is. I might stick to making a couple of little puzzle levels first, escape-the-room sort of thing.

The plot is extremely silly, but I would feel very put out if the devs didn't add a bunch of ready-made levels to show off what the game can do, and it would be pretty crap if none of them had anything to do with one another. The story adds structure and flow to the ready-made levels that the devs include (well, as much structure and flow that can be found in a story about an intergalactic vacuum cleaner), and the silliness is part of its charm. Obviously, if you're going to pick up LittleBigPlanet just for the story, you have absolutely no idea what the whole point of the game is (ie. making and sharing your own levels and ideas), but I personally would feel a little ripped off if they just threw a bunch of random platforming levels in there (or worse, none at all) without some semblance of a plot to hold it all together.

I've been playing it with my older brother, and it's a lot of fun. Lots of funny moments like when I accidentally grabbed on to him with the grappling hook and pulled both of us into the electricity, or when he had saved me from falling into a pit with the grappling hook, then as I was trying to make it to safety he just let go and I fell to my doom. We also spent about half an hour just throwing each other into enemies and off cliffs with the lifting glove. It really took me back to the days of us throwing each other off cliffs in Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers on the NES. So basically, it's been a blast so far. I highly recommend playing it with a friend or sibling.

The level editor looks insane. tried LBP2 at my friends house for like 30 mins and found levels you couldn't dream of finding in LBP 1

I just bought it yesterday and I must say it is awesome. Already made a level and the tools for it are extremely easy and fun to use. I haven't had one level idea that I wasn't able to find a way to put in.

The story missions are also much more fun than the ones in the first game.
