No recent game is realistic to be honest, the trend of games pretending to be can get lost though.

On one hand, you need enough realism to suspend your disbelief and be really immersed in a game. On the other, if a game tries too hard to emulate real life, a lot of other parts of a game can suffer.

Yes. "Realistic FPS" games have 3-shot kills, regenerating health, and the ability to carry TWO guns. If I went up against more than 1 guy at a time, I would fucking die.

I grew up with Doom. I had 100 health, and could pick up potions that INCREASED that amount and armor that decreased the damage. I carried 9 weapons and had the option to kill EVERYTHING in the room with the BFG if I so chose. Oh! And I could take on 50 guys AND WIN.

Frankly, I like unrealistic games. Gex, Enter the Gecko? How realistic is that? Not. How much fun is it? A TON.

I think realism is great for immersion, as long as it doesn't come in the way for something that's fun.

I like realism in games. It brings you what could happen in real life but won't.

Realism, like others here have said, is overused to the point that its boring and it makes some o us go out of our ways jsut to get a differnt kind of shooter i say that the developers need to breaoden thier sense of realism to allow more creative freedom kind of liek the unicorn gun that was mentioned....

Games that are realistic make you die after 2 or 3 shots...I wouldn't define any other types of games as "Realistic" unless the have that.
