Now that the 3ds has been out for longer than a year I though it would be good to ask all the people who bought it what they think of thei device after all this time. Has it been worth the money? What games have you gotten for it? What do you think of the games that are out an that are coming out? But basically just give your opinions and thoughts on the system.

As for me, I got mine last summer before the price drop so I got the twenty ambassador games and they're all good classics. I've gotten 6 games so far, in order of quality here they are: resident evil revelation, super mario 3d land, ocarina of time 3d, kid Icarus uprising, mario kart 7 and super street fighter 4. All of those games are brilliant, even my least favourite I like playing quite a lot. I'm going to be getting paper mario, new art academy, nsmb2, luigi's mansion 2 and the adventure time game, so I think ive gotten my moneys worth. Overall, the 3ds has turned out to be a brilliant little console with quite a few amazing games and one that oozes personality, I really do think it's turned out to be a better console Han the vita.

I've had mine since release, unfortunately, whether due to lack of money or lack of interesting games, I've sold mine for $200 just last week.

Now, that isn't to say that it's a bad console, it's just its had its course, and i've grown bored. Regardless of your stance on the 3D, we all know that it is a gimmick, and it will wear it self out. No one can stay interested in 3D for that amount of time.

Ocarina of Time in 3D was brilliant. The smoothness, the more streamlined gameplay, everything is brighter than the n64 version, did I mention how smooth it was? Because the controls are seriously amazing. Master quest was lots of fun, and I still found replay-ability by doing 3-heart runs, which mind you I never got past the fire temple for Master Quest on (one hit kill is too hard duh).

Street Fighter was awesome, but it was limited on its content, as the games usually are. Even with the online multiplayer, and the badge system (or whatever it was called), its replay-ability was extremely limited. Especially if you didn't have anyone to versus. I have to say though, the controls and gameplay were superb, and its worth a few run-throughs at least.

Sadly, those are the only two I played worth mentioning, as I said earlier, I didn't have the money to get Mario Kart or Kid Icarus, two games I'm sure I would have loved.

Overall, the console was pretty amazing starting off, but then its charm wore off way too quickly. I wouldn't recommend buying one until it's hit its absolute lowest price (if the current price isn't already low enough for you), and then buying all of the good games that will be coming out soon (or later as the case may be).

I got mine last summer as a birthday present. The 3DS games I have played (which are very few) have mostly been lackluster, though. I have mainly focused on playing lots of DS games that take up a sizeable amount of my gaming time.

Rayman 3D is a game I strongly recommend, especially since controls are so much better than the PC version.

Recently I did get Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns for the 3DS, which has been quite all right so far.

My 3DS is so far seeing most of its use as a regular DS, for now at least. The future however...

If you use xpadder you can use a controller with the PS2 version which makes it as good as any other version.
Fair enough then. I guess I just go all kneejerk when I think about the old days with this one. Oh well.

the 3ds is pretty meh for me. It was only good as a timewaster on the bus before I got a car, now it's a dust collector. Actually, even on the bus it was kind of sucky, as the 3d effect doesn't work very well when your head is moving cause of bumps and stuff on the road.

As far as being better than the vita, if you look at the hardware, the vita is much better. But as with so much in this world and especially with stuff parent buy for their kids, quality isn't as important as price, so the 3ds has the market.

There is only room for one dedicated handheld in today's market, & that is the 3ds. Too bad it is underpowered and has only one stick and it has no real competition to make Nintendo work for your money.

I recommend getting more games, there are actualy quite a few decent to fucking amazing games. Resident evil revelations is almost as good as resident evil 4, supe mario 3d land is amazing and there are quite a few awesome cheapies on the eshop, pullblox and mighty switch force are two of the best.

I like it, especially with the design mine's has. I have the Legend Of Zelda one seen below

But I don't think I'll truly love it until a fully fledged 3D Pokemon comes out for it. Also, anybody now if the Snake Eater is any good, and whatever they've added to the 3DS version makes it worth getting? I've been tempted by it, but I always have the HD Collection version to play on the Xbox.

I got mine close to release and I've loved it so far. Recently I've been playing a lot of Tales of The Abyss and Kid Icarus, both of which are amazing, especially Kid Icarus. I also really enjoyed playing Ocarina of Time on there too. It's also nice because my old DS was getting old so I play most of my old DS games on my 3DS too. I'm looking forward to the new Mario game coming out this month (right on my Birthday too) along with some of the other games that are supposed to be coming out this holiday.

So yeah, I really like it and I'm looking forward to what's coming out in the future.

Well, I am keeping myself on a leash with the shopping (unless it is Warmahordes). I'll wait a bit for the 3DS games to go down in price before I make my purchases.

Also, I am often on the hunt for weird little gems on the regular DS, so there is that.

Non-ambassador here, and I love it to tiny little bits. The games it plays, the look and feel of the machine, and the graphics! I'm unabashedly nostalgic for the previous generation already, so I'm happy that it doesn't have this hyper HD thing to it. 3D is a fun gimmick but one it never needed to sell me on the device. And I've never once needed a second analog stick. As a fully capable human being, I'm adaptable.

I have 8 physical games, 7 3DSWare games, 6 DSiWare games, and 6 Virtual Console games. I've gotten my investment's worth at this point, so it's all uphill from here.

I liked it. Ocarina of Time was good, Street Fighter 4 was good and I also enjoyed Super Mario 3D Land. I've played all three of those extensively during lunch/tea breaks. But I haven't seen many interesting games so I padded out my collection with a few DS games.

About the gimmicks:

3D was actually useful in Super Mario 3D Land. It's helpful because you can tell immediately whether you can jump on that block or whether you will jump on the empty space in front of it and fall to your doom. It does make platforming in a 3D space easier. But it's not that useful for most genres because most genres were developed for plain 2D TVs/monitors and have avoided this form of interface screw.

Fortunately, you can turn it off if you don't care for it. There's a physical slider for it so you don't have navigate menus or lose game progress if you realise you left it on by mistake. But you batteries will still deplete in 3-5 hours.

Motion controls have potential IMO. I only used them to aim in Ocarina of Time but they are a great way to aim. Much better than an analogue stick, almost as good as a mouse. It's rather silly that they tried to add a second analogue stick when they realised the Vita had one, they do not need it. In fact, if I had any sort of power at Microsoft or Sony I'd make the controllers for the next gen consoles have motion sensors and I'd fund FPS games that used them.

Of course, motion controls do conflict somewhat with the 3D, although I did not have a problem with it. I think Yahtzee was exaggerating the difficulty of keeping your head in the right position. You can turn off 3D anyway.

It's region locked, which is bullshit, and that's all I need to know. It wouldn't be that bad if I lived in the US or Japan, but I live in Europe. For example, Etrian Odyssey 4 is going to be released in some time, and I would have almost wanted to get a 3DS just for that, but EO2 and EO3 (for the DS) were never released in Europe. I had to import them. I can't do that with the 3DS. (Or I would have to import the whole console, which would mean I can't play games I buy from here.)

I might get one if I can find it cheap, maybe used, but the region locking is enough of a reason for me to not buy it for now. I'll just keep buying all the DS games I've missed over the years.

Until B2/W2 you can always get the Pokédex app on the virtual store. It's free.
Both of those are still Gen 5 and thus just DS games. For fully 3d Pokemon games we have to wait for Gen 6 and the next bunch of critters *can't wait*.
I memorized that wrong then. Ah well. Not that I am itching for it, I still have Platinum to chug through.

I really like the 3DS. It has had some of my favorite games this year on it, and I think the 3D is pretty cool, even if I don't use it often.
My favorite games for it have been Mario Kart 7 and Resident Evil Revelations. Other games that I got and really liked were Super Mario 3D Land, and Star Fox 64 3D.

Trying to play MGS3D or RE: Revelations without the second stick is just shit and frustrating.

I posted a thread about it 2 days ago, no one replied.

From what I hear it has framerate issues. Some say it is a dealbreaker, others say it is barely an issue.

I would like to get a few more opinions but as I said, no one replied.

I remember the PS2 version slowing down a lot during fights like The Fury and I wonder if the 3DS is the same.
I have MGS3D, but haven't gotten anywhere in it yet. Not a huge fan of the Gyro sensor being used to keep balance when walking on trees and such, and not having the Circle Pad makes it a lot harder to do stuff. But in the 5 minutes I played I had no framerate problems. If you are planning on buying it get a Circle Pad Pro also. I think that will help a lot.
