What do you think the best gameing soundtrack is?

As a series, The Legend of Zelda. I've only played about just over half of them, but each one contains some real gems (*the majority* of Zelda songs are real gems, to be fair haha).

I'd post some of my favourites but... we all know nobody is going to listen to them Everyone's too busy trying to get people to listen to *their* favourite soundtrack haha

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Final Fantasy X - seems to be great to listen to while spelunking in Minecraft

Tough one. Portal 2 has an amazing soundtrack as does Red Dead Revolver (I have both on my iPod).

Though for best original soundtrack I'll have to go with Bastion. Just beautiful. Play that game it it brilliant.

Ohhhhh that's a tough one. My favorites are these:

Silent Hill series
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
Killzone 2

The Silent Hill series, 2 in particular.

NieR also has a phenomenal score.

That was the only thing about the game I liked.

Shadow of the Colossus, and Jet Set Radio get's a thumb up for me.

Also, regardless of what people say about the game, Final Fantasy VIII arguably had the best soundtrack of any of the Final Fantasy's.

i CANNOT believe oblivion hasnt been mentioned...

its by far and away my favourite. Chilling, beautiful, epic, its absolutely fantastic and Jeremy Soule's best work to date.

Come on guys, there are other games that were made before this console generation. I'm going with a three way tie between Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy IV an Chrono Cross:

How has no one said Banjo-Kazooie, that game has one of the best soundtracks
(tried backwards engineering the embedding, hope it works)
However if you go licensed sound tracks I think SSX On Tour is definitely up there.

Oddly enough Afro Samurai the game the music by RZA blends beutifally with the cell shaded violence and gore.

The best soundtrack? I can't even decide my favourite. I'm thinking "Best soundtrack" and getting dozens of answers, the likes of Final Fantasy I - X, Warcraft 2 & 3, C&C...

Nier, Chrono Cross, GTA: Vice City and San Andreas, Metal Gear Solid series, Modern Warfare 2, Persona 4 (if only for the battle themes), Final Fantasy X, XI, and XII, Okami, the Halo series, and SSB Brawl are all games that have made me sit back and take notice of the soundtrack. Probably others too, but they are the big ones.

I have the Final Fantasy Tactics soundtrack on my iPhone so I'm gonna go with that one. I am looking forward to the Skyrim soundtrack though.

My favourite is always Zelda. I've got a CD of the Symphony Concert tracks with Skyward Sword (tracks from the special anniversary concert that I attended), and it's breathtaking.

So yeah, I guess I'm a pretty big fan of Zelda's music.
