So Nasa have announced that they will be announcing information that will 'impact' the search for extraterrestrial life, on Dec 2nd.

Well to me it just sounds like a soundbite, it's not going to be anything like 'We've found aliens', probably just the discovery of 'possible' life bearing planets (again).

OK this has got a lot of people talking.. BUT MAYBE THAT'S THE POINT...

The US gov't are looking for ways to mitigate the 'Cablegate' saga, to get us talking and thinking about other things hoping it will all just go away... I find it far more likely that this 'announcement' is just a bunch of misdirection to focus our attention elsewhere.. let's face it, it wouldn't be the first time gov'ts have used obfuscation and misdirection to fudge sensetive issues, in fact it's a pretty standard practice.
You're a moron. NASA doesn't give a damn whether the government is mired in a scandal.
It's just a finding like any other, which will only be of interest to those who are interested in the subject matter. Most likely a confirmation of some particular organic molecule in a molecular cloud, or perhaps confirmation of water in some planet's atmosphere.
So you're not aware that Nasa receives it's mandate from the Gov't and is just another Gov't department? They do what the gov't TELLS them to do... Anyway, I didn't say it WAS the case, just that it's certainly not improbably considering other tactics used to mislead and misdirect.

As for being a moron...maybe you should look closer to home on that one.. after all, only 2 posts and you're already so short on vocabulary that you've had resorted to namecalling.
So anything which received funding from the government is just another government department eh?
Are you REALLY trying to argue that they're NOT part of the gov't?

REALLY?

That they're finally sending a probe to Ceres and/or Europa to search underneath the surface for water and life. If it's not that or something better, I'll be pissed.

Be nice if this was disclosure but I doubt it.

It's more likely they found something, and since they're teasing it I'll assume it's something good instead of something bad (So no space rocks hitting the earth, or at least I hope so). Prehaps they found some sort of life in the universe, or another world we can one day hope to inhabit once were done ravaging this one.

Actually i'm hoping they found a Prothean data cache on Mars and that Charon, the moon orbiting Pluto is infact a mass relay coated in ice....
And I hope that ou famed leaders can handle it like adults.

You know, I'd like to see the president's mother keeping them in line.

'I declare war o-owowowowow'

'You apologize now young man!'

but mooooom!

Don't wanna get involved, and I can see where your both coming from...but cmon guyss xD. Take a chill pill, both of you, and relax, and look forward to the inevitably disappointing news okay:].

OT:
Meh, personally, I reckon they found a suitable way to send a crew to Mars:']

That they ran out of money twelve years ago and that the rockets they have been sending into space since then have actually just been made of paper-mache.
