I'm curious to see what people think the US will look like in 10 years. How pessimistic or optimist are you towards the country's future?

A giant pink marshmallow.

Although I can't see the US all the way from the UK so I couldn't tell you what it looks like now never mind in 10 years.

Nuclear Wastland. Place your bets here, folks.

All joking aside, I think it will somewhat hellish. Places will be abandoned, Big cities will be the only locations for survival, all that good stuff.

I think it'll look pretty damn close to what it looks like now. With some slightly more advanced technology.

I mean, think about it. What's changed in the U.S. from 2001 'til now? Answer: not much. Give a slightly longer time period, and perhaps we'll have some more drastic changes.

depending how the political parties are going to act either:

economically well, non-petrol powered cars (oil is getting expensive) and lots of wind/solar farms along with nuclear power plants

-or-

a HUGE difference between rich people and poor people.

a third option is the same as now except the calendar has 2021 on it. (excluding world changing events like WWIII or a zombie apocalypse)

No to look weird or anything, it won't be anything tragic or devastating that's for sure.
It'd be hotter or colder due to Global Warming, but they'll likely blame that on some other cause.
Pretty much the same except hopefully more Eco-friendly cars/forms of transport, and we'll all be carrying iPad 7s or something.

I, for one, hope I'm still not here. That's my point zero two dollars for you.

A desert wasteland, where the scattered remnants of what was once society crumble unmourned, while children have to fight each other for scraps of food, water and shelter.

Personally, I blame the democrats.

Once China collapses, it'll probably look pretty damn good. For the rich, at least.

There is already an astronomical gap between rich and poor, 10 years will only make it worse.

pretty much the same as it does now. technology may be evolving quickly, but I dont think anything as world changing as the internet will come out in the next 10 years AND be widely adopted.

The next few years are going to have a huge impact on the future of the human race. Population control is way over due on this planet and enforcing it will be extremely hard in many parts of the world. Controlling how many resources we use, pollution we create etc is almost mandatory at this point.

Problem is doing so will be very unpopular and we have a very large population that will be unhappy about it.

So yeah, in 10 years I see us either having basically destroyed the planet trying to control ourselves and think long term, or on the verge of total collapse as we start to run out of resources and panic spreads around the world (wars starting for resources etc all over).

The only real chance I see us having is some form of biological warfare that wipes out a large percentage of humanity leaving about 20% of humans alive including those who released the virus and have a plan for controlling things afterwards.

Even then while we may certainly live much longer, and life at least on this planet will probably continue to exist....there are many consequences of our actions that won't be seen for many years (global warming for one....with the possibility of a greenhouse effect which could eventually make this planet unable to sustain life). If we do drop our population down significantly though and have scientists constantly work at reversing what we have done there may be a chance for the human race still.

I certainly would not bet on it though.

One good piece of news though....in 10 years Diablo 3 will already have been out for as long as D2 has!!! Woot!

Well,I think we will separate ourselves from Canada and Mexico and build a giant motor beneath the country, then set off as a giant battleship. We will also paint our entire landscape red, white and blue.

My prediction: The dwindling economy leads America to being destroyed by massive rioting of its citizens and is bought for the equivalent of 20 bucks by China.

EDIT: And hopefully before that we'll adopt the One Child Policy

A much lower standard of living thats for sure. The gap between rich and poor in america has grown exponentially over 50 years. And with politicians trying to push even more for the rich to have even more tax cuts, and areas are now starting to require citizens to pay taxes for the use of public services. (Such as the fire department, and an ambulance) Really its going to look the same on the outside. But walk the streets in a poor neighborhood and it's going to look worse than it ever did.
