Relic has said that they want to do a Dawn of War 3 some time in the future. If that is the case, what would you like to see implemented?

Retribution hybridized the Dawn of War 2 style of gameplay with more traditional RTS designs like troop building. I think with some extra refinement, this could make for a very interesting form of RTS.

I'd like the story to take a cue from Starcraft. One of my complaints about Dawn of War Retribution was that all the stories used the same campaign, and overrode each other. If they were played sequentially like Starcraft, the campaigns could be used to build up an epic story without shorthanding any of the factions.

What do you want to see in DOW3?

TAU, Necron, That one race with little tweens capturing pokemons and invading other galaxies with them on their space chariot of love and peace.

A dark-crusade style of campaign, with each race getting their own missions. I have yet to finish retribution, but for $30, I don't think anyone was expecting something as epic as S2: WoL, but it was a decent experience.

Also, nude elves.

That's all I can think of really, DoW2 is decent enough even without the TAU. :(

Also, come to think of it, they should really try to go back to the CoH style of level design, big maps, same style of resource gathering, maybe try to get a better alternative for building, C&C4 had the right idea, but poorly executed in a way.

Personally, I would love a Warhammer Fantasy game in the same style as DoW...
Otherwise, about all I would ask for is less focus on the FUCKING SPACE MARINES. Why does almost every Wh40k game have to focus on the space marines?

I agree about the campaign. Having "6 campaigns" that are essentially the same with only moderately different play styles isn't that impressive. I would also like to see an improved Last Stand. Have the classes level up like they do in the campaign and use the gear to improve them, rather than have the gear be the basis for everything.

Edit: And now I'm off to read my current Warhammer 40k book. Its the third one of the Horus Heresy, I can't remember the name.

Necrons and Tyranids, at the same time. Why must the series keep them separated?

As for everything else, they could just leave it all the same, except for an engine upgrade, and I'd be fine with it.

I'd love to see some Company of Heroes.
Fucking hell Relic, how long is it going to take you to release another? You've released one CoH game, yet you've pumped out 3 DoW games in the past 5 years.
Are they still suckling at the teat of the Warhammer nerds?

40K Apocalypse-scale combat.

The thing I enjoyed least about DoW2 (other than crappy optimization and GFWL) was the fact that converted to tabletop rules, you piddlefarted around with 1,000 point armies give or take a few hundred depending on army comp and it was near-completely micro (which I utterly loathe). In DoW1, you had a decent amount of macro and armies that contrasted with TT ranged in the 2,000-2,500 point range.

To hell with that noise. I want Dawn of War meets Final Liberation. I want armies that when converted to TT rules easily weigh into the 10,000+ point range, the kind of stuff you could only imagine on Games Day between players who have a few thousand bucks to spare each.

Oh, and a Battlefleet Gothic game would be nice, too. I mean, Relic's never, ever done that and done it well before and I think it would be a nice change of pace...

Yep, and will be for a long time since GW's style is more eye-catching than WWII games these days. It's a shame for Company of Heroes fans, but WH40K does stand out a bit more from the crowd for a prospective buyer when you see the box on the shelf rather than blending in with the hordes of WWII games.

On topic, I like Retribution's style, it was a good mix of DoW1 and DoW2, but I agree with others who have said it would be nice if the campaigns were in succession so the story could be longer, I felt C&C3 despite some other flaws, did this very well, where the best way to play was switch campaigns at the end of each act (for example where in Act 1 of the Nod campaign you capture the white house, and in Act 1 of the GDI campaign you get a mission to recapture the White House from Nod). Some follow up on previous plot threads would be nice too. Did we ever hear what happened with the daemon that Angelos released at the end of DoW1?

I just want it to go back to DoW 1's gameplay and improve on that instead of trying to hybridize

I want to go back to the way it was in DoW1.

You know, when it was better.

Fuck Dawn of War. Give me a new, futuristic Company of Heroes, where your stormtroopers have jetpacks, and I'll forever be Relic's slave.

No, seriously. I like DoW, but CoH is still miles ahead at everything except gore. The only thing CoH missed was jetpacks.

Turn based. (though that wouldn't go down well with most) Or maybe bring it closer to dow 1. I enjoyed the build up of a base like in other traditional RTS games.

Also.. Obliterators..

Because Space Marines are the easiest to suspend disbelief of being heroic. In story each individual marine has legends about his heroic actions over his life. So seeing a marine take on a warboss or bloodthirster one on one however improbable still seems possible. However if you put someone like Yarik against a bloodthirster no matter how cool he is, you would assume he'd cop it. Space marines basicly are the only unit powerful enough to step to 40Ks OP universe. Also they inhabit a nice niche where you can get into their headspace cos they are human enough but still be so much more than human. What else can fill that niche? Tau Crisis Armour? Tyranid Carnifex? Necron Lord? Ork Nob? You could make games about these sure but you would have so much back story to fill in and thinking style to adopt, at least with Marines you can just say, they are armoured dudes, go for it.

OT: I would say a Generals/Chapter system like in C&C Generals or Age of Mythology. Where you can pick say, the Raven Guard chapter and have bonuses to Jump Pack troops and Scouts or a General/Legion that favours Artillery in The Guard.

I want the Grey knights in as its own playable race.

I just really want to mow down the forces of Chaos with an army of PALADINS FROM SPACE!!!

I did play the Inquisition Deamonhunt mod for soulstorm, was cool. Something like that but with a campaign.

I seriously would like it to be the actual Dawn of War 2, instead of tactically managing a bunch of guys as we see in what Relic called DoW2. I still enjoy building stuff and destroying stuff that other players built. Multiplayer of DoW:Dark Crusade is (in my opinion) just so much better.
Also, Necrons and Tau, damn. And maybe Daemonhunters or Black Templars as an individual 'race', instead of different-in-nothing-but-colors chapter of Space Marines.

Oh, and I don't really care about story unless it has Sindri from DoW1 with his badass voice, or if it is really good beyond the lore of Warhammer 40.000. And please, oh PLEASE, better pathfinding than in DoW1. Attacking with army larger than half of the unit limit, especially with orks or imperial guard, was just so much pain in the-...

Still, I'd prefer Homeworld 3 to Dawn of War 3.

- RISK style campaign.

- More visceral and epic battles (DOW1).

- More room for maneuvering on maps.

- More destructibility and terrain variance.

- More unit variety.

- NECRONS.

- Land Raiders.

- More game modes.

- More compelling characters (DOWII did a good job, but could be better).

- A narrative with more depth.

- More personal army customization.

- Weather effects!
