I actually don't see what was SO bad about modern warfare 2! The story was mediocre, I never found any one weapon to be especially OP in most situations, I rarely found a noob tuber on the online and even when I did it was never one with 1 man army and all the perks of a professional tw@t. For me the game was average, not 3P!C. Not the box of fail and hate most people regard it as.

The only two CoD games i have regretted buying. Ever. Are CoD 3 and Black Ops.

This isn't a thread of what is so bad about MW2 or BlOps. This isn't a thread on how the series should stop. This thread is about which features and changes you want in Modern Warfare 3.

By that I mean serious answers. Not answers like: No matchmaking, completely different campaign, Zombies ('Favela zombies' could never happen and if you want zombies then go with Black Ops or WaW)

To give some examples, here are my first submissions:

Credit based unlocks.
(Who wants to spend ages unlocking the holo for the G18 when they just want the bloody akimbo! With the credits you also force players to think about which weapons they want to specialise in)

Scavenger Doesn't resupply UGLs
Worked reasonably well in Black Ops for deterring the noob tube brigade

Larger maps
I'm not saying that it should trek into Battlefield-ville and pick up the tricks of that style of shooter (I don't know what the technical term is for games like Battlefield and Battlefront). But if you put in the M200 then you better put in a large map to snipe in. They rectified this with the huge desert one (I cannae remember the name of it) but that had the stupid glitch in the rock.

That's all I'm going to say in my first post. If people begin to post then I'll post some more. After all, I've got to leave some for you.

A campaign ala Modern Warfare 2, a multiplayer ala Black Ops, more spec ops misssions.

Weapon unlocks should stop being level-based because it defeats the entire fucking idea of CoD points.

More weapons.

Good medium-sized maps.

Hans Zimmer.

Inb4 "cod is shit lol"

I'd like to see knifing reduced to having a stun effect. Larger maps and a larger player cap would be nice too.

Guess the top of the list of things to be added to this game is more fun. You remember fun? its what you used to have when you were a little kid and playing your first video game. Nothing in CoD for a long time has made me want to keep playing or go back.

Replace campaign with CoD4, and you have my opinion on the matter.

OT: The guns need to be more balanced, while at the same time, each and every gun has its use and not one gun should overshadow everything else. That also stands for the type of gun as well, sniper rifles can retain their quickscoping abilities ala CoD4, but restrictions so it isn't so easy to do it and so it actually takes skill to use. Grenade launchers need to either be reduced to one shot per life or reduced blast radius and damage. The game also needs competitively balanced maps, which means the deterrence of excessive camping (Key word: excessive. Doesn't mean disallowing it completely), grenade spam, etc.

I really do like the idea of setting it in the future.
So we replace the word "Battlefield" with Call of Duty?

1. Get a better story writer.
2. Decrease recoil on the F2000.
3. Bring back mothaf*ckin' Double Tap!
4. Let the PC talk during gameplay. This irks me for some reason.
5. Replace the knife with...the f*cking gun butt! You club someone over the head with a M240 and they'll go down for at least a couple seconds.

Assuming I would buy a Modern warfare 3, the first thing that comes to mind is a single player campaign that takes a minimum of 8-10 hours to finish (thats 8-10 hours of gameplay not 4 hours of gameplay and 4 hours of cut scenes) and is an actual realistic representation of warfare. Having served in the US army I have been very disappointed with the lack of tactics and hardware that have appeared in the games. Plus it would be nice to play a Call of duty game that I cant finish in about the same amount of time it takes to make dinner. Oh and another idea for single player is do something similar to mass effect, when a mission starts let the player choose their loadout instead of forcing them to use certain weapons.

On the multiplayer side

Make larger maps that feel less like corridor shooters and more like a real battlefield.

Destroyable cover

Bullet drop mechanics

knives arent one hit kills, or alternatively they are but require several seconds to pull off and leave the player vulnerable for a short time (example: A 3 second long animation where you grab the guy and ram the knife into his throat/spine and have to wait for him to become motionless)

Take out the leveling stuff all together. It just doesnt make that much sense IMO. If you want say an RPG you shouldnt have to wait till the highest levels to get it, just let the person buy it with their points

First aid kits as alternate devices (where smoke, claymores, etc were in MW2) that allow us to "ressurect" recently killed comrades

Then theres probably the most important thing: More guns!

Captain MacMillan. 'Nuff said.

A playable female character.

As much as I do like his voice, don'y hire Craig Fairbrass, or else we're gonna get another load of moronic idiots who think Ghost is Gaz and all that bullshit. Seriously he has the same voice, doesn't mean he's the same bloody person. From that logic is the Master from Fallout Winnie the Pooh? Hades in God of War III is Mr. Krabs?

Make the knife a weapon you need to switch to. And just get rid of lunging entirely.

Knife as a separate weapon/ tactical attachment instead of knife being just a mindless button press.
More weapons, seriously how do you go from the variety in MW2, to the small handful in BOps.
More choice in terms of primary vs secondary. I'm sorry but pistols that suck, a crossbow with 2 shots, and a knife isn't the greatest choice of secondaries and most people will pick up any other gun on the ground instead of their loadout secondaries.
Looking into actual gun balance, a lot of the guns are honestly just bad, no one in their right mind would pick them as a serious gun, I mean all of the shotguns besides the SPAS are terrible. Especially the one you can dual wield, it has like a 2 foot range and it does almost no damage.
Being able to mix and match perks from the same category. It always happens that I just don't find any of the perks in a category useful for my loadouts. I really wish I could use like 2 green perks or 2 orange ones instead of having to pick one of each category.
A new prestige system, why do pro perks reset? Doing the challenges isn't fun. I got to rank 50 in a day, but I don't want to prestige because I finished all my perk challenges are actually mildly hard/annoying. For example, ghost requiring you to kill a sentry gun, very few people use sentry gun, I had to constantly join CTF matches in hopes that someone would place one down to defend a flag.
I kind of miss matchmaking, I hate having to leave a server because I want to change up my loadouts or having to buy new contracts. Having a short lobby between matches would probably help and it actually gives you a minute or so to breath between games or take a much needed piss break.

Surely just Black Ops multiplayer but with modern gear and make the maps a little bigger. Black Ops was the first COD multiplayer I thoroughly enjoyed. Obviously that's just my opinion though, some people hate Blops.

A campaign. That's all I ask. I want to see another solid 10-12 hours of epicness ala COD4. I don't care how badly they skullfuck multiplayer since I won't play that anyways. I just want a good campaign.
I might be misunderstanding what you're saying, but I'll say it anyways: The CoD 4 campaign wasn't 10-12 hours, was it? You could kind of say it took that long on Veteran, but it didn't.

It's not even particularly longer than MW2, it's just more challenging.

Not sure why you don't consider 'no matchmaking' a serious answer. I'd be very happy if they put in that little bit of effort to restore dedicated servers.

The other big problem with the game is the way Activision greedily views the game like a hungry man, as though it's food (Tim Winton reference FTW!) and grab all they can out of it. I'm talking, of course, of the current $90 price tag on steam, US dollars no less and this is after, what, 2 years? I mean, Black Ops is out and it still costs the same.

Dead serious, a real price drop on Steam would be the one thing I'd love most.
