What do you want in your significant other?

This is a subject I haven't really seen on this website. If you're single, what do you look for in a significant other and if you're taken, what do you see in your significant other that makes you like them so much? Personally (and considering I'm on the Escapist this may sound very typical and cliche) I would like to be with a girl who is a gamer. Why you may ask? Well...so we can actually have something to talk about, considering that I'm about as socially awkward as they come, really should go out more, kind of have a limited social circle and if I started going out with a regular girl it would end within a month if I was lucky, and that's assuming if I could even catch her attention and convince her that going out with me wouldn't be a colossal waste of her time and...sorry, went off on a tangent there. Yeah, a girl who is into games because really that's the only type of girl I would be able to maintain a stable relationship with.

So, enough of my bitching, what about you?

Patience, young one.

Anyway, I'm looking for someone who has an appreciation for the subtler things in life; who is not only willing but genuinely wants to dialogue me about the profound things, is committed to understanding me and to keeping what we share in sight (which should eventually be a common purpose, way of life). That also means being open, honest with me, responsible, a good listener, an ethical person, etc.

I also like someone who doesn't shy away from being affectionate (in private).

Being physically attractive doesn't hurt either.

well just because this caught my interest.

one of the things i would like in a girl is a sense of danger or fear.

not scared for my life but.... well to properly explain this, i guess you would need to know a bit about me.
you see i have some "odd" quirks. i am a weaponry collector/martial artist. (and her being into something similar get super bonus points BTW.) I focus mostly on bladed weaponry and know my way around most any type of knife/sword/spear.

I also know enough about basic chemistry, psychology, physiology, and physics to say some stuff that can be a bit creepy to the average person. You know that "how and why do you know this?!?!" feeling.

whenever i get a similar vibe from a girl or any person I get interested quite quickly.

I would also like somebody adventurous. and willing to work out and fix problems instead of sulking around on them. somebody not afraid to get dirty. or learn something new.

also just a little funfact: striped stockings are a MASSIVE!! turn on for me.

I would say that I am looking for a woman who is honest, caring, outgoing, has her own opinions, gets along with everyone, and is independent.

I've been around a lot of women to know that looks aren't everything and that with the right amount of time and effort, any woman can be beautiful.

I want her to feel far better at life than she ever has before, to be able to hold her head up high and face the world as I do and get past all the shit in her life that's bogging her down. Yes, I'm talking about my actual significant other, because she's been through so much and I want her life to improve because I love her dearly.

Attractive enough physically, intelligent enough to challenge me, able to tolerate my many flaws, and generally fun to be around.

I don't think I'm looking for someone, I've never given it much thought and besides, you never know who you're going to end up with, of course if I keep doing what I'm doing I'll end up alone, mostly because telling girls that you're not interested probably isn't the best way to find one.

Generally I find that attraction is hard to quantify. IMO the best way is to just let it happen, vs. artificially define a list of things you are attracted to.

You know, good looking, not dumb (doesn't need to be smart but not a dumb one), a nice person and maybe something we share? Taste in movies, books, games, sports something like that.

I think more than anything else, I'd like to be with someone who will give me a good kick up the arse when I need one.

Self-motivation is a serious issue for me, and being with someone who can help with that, while at the same time being affectionate would be ideal.

Not a chav, intelligent, funny, probably crazy, capable of standing on her own two feet, and not afraid of what's different.

For me, it's more my well being with my significant other. If he makes me happy, it's the most important. Though I am shallow, so in order for him to make me happy he needs to fit my type. But otherwise, as long as he has a positive outlook, than it tends to keep me looking up, and happy. Been in my current relationship for a little over or year, or a little under a year depending how you look at it, and I can't think of any time, where I may have been in a bad mood, and coming home to him hasn't cheered me up.

Plus we just get along so well, and find our own stupid ways to have fun together.

Though he's more successful than me, which I'm just not used to, as I like to be the one to take care of the other person. But I've accepted it, and moved on. He does play video games, which help too...in that I don't have someone who looks down on video games, and scoffs and my playing of them.

Oh don't look at me like that, somebody had to say it.

Seriously though:
A passion for manga or comics in general.
A BMI of at least 22,5 and preferably above 28.
A love for books.
Not too religious.
