What do you want out of life?

Simply put, what do you, as an individual live for? Why do you continue and what goal is the eventual thing that you wish to do or gain before your inevitable demise? I would like some answers that both give an answer and provide some meaning to what you say (by which I mean, please don?t simply post an answer without any support for it). Here is mine to get the ball rolling:

The only thing I want out of life is meaning. I wish to serve a grand purpose, a positive purpose, upon the stage of human history. I wish to contribute something that people would say helped them. I care not for recognition, I simply cannot allow myself to sit by and die living my life without helping others in a way that negates all of the negativity that I have brought into the world.

The same thing everyone wants. To rule over the nations of man with an iron fist. and then set my sights to the stars only to be crippled by logistic issues relating to interspace warfare distances fuel and supplies.

Also, any would be assasins out there, I plan on hooking the detonator for a doomsday device up to my nervous system so when I go, everyone goes!

As an individual I live for my friends and pleasure. I continue because, why not? I have no set goal or purpose other than to learn/enjoy my life as much as possible before I hit nothingness/the afterlife.

Is it too late to change my answer to this?

I just want to make what I can here. In particular I desire a marriage that will last for the rest of our lives at some point. Have not decided if I want kids in it. And in the mean time I just want to have fun. I've already been born so it'd be a waste of potential good feelings on my part to not enjoy it.

I want success both monetary and in other aspects, to live a life that others look at and say wow God has blessed that person(if you believe in God). I want influence and power I want to promote capitalism , small government, individual responsibility, and I want to be known as a positive influence on everyones life around me.

I want to publish a book. Selfish in it's own right, considering I want this book to be of my own writing, but I don't think that should make it any less valid.

Ultimately, I want to spread some humor in the world. I make people laugh, I'm not sure if it's my personality, or really how sincere the laughter is, but I know you can't laugh without smiling, which is a victory in it's own right for improving someone else's day.

So, I want to pass my word, my humor, and some of my creativity along into the world before I die. If someone else benefits from it, all the better. Selfish or not, it's my goal, and I think that makes it worthwhile.

I'm fairly young, so it might change, but as it is now.. Pleasure, happiness and if that ever evasive knowledge of..well.. everything. So far i've got everything about nothing. Wich doesn't really amount to much. Go figure.

To always have companionship in one way or another, yet never be dependent on it. I want to be able to look back on my life and see that I've changed the world in a positive way to sort of make up for all the cynicism I've brought to the world for the past few years. I want to be the person that always lends a helping hand, and in doing so brightens someone's day..makes them smile at least for a short period of time.
