Right now I'm doing seasonal tax prep work (note: if you want to have your taxes done by raging incompetents making barely above the minimum wage, you can't go wrong with the national tax-prep corporations. Soon as my non-compete expires I'm going into private practice to spare people the indignity of identity theft, IRS audits, and payday-loan "rapid refund" products with 85% APRs.)
I'm going back to college starting in May (summer session) to finish a long-ago-abandoned associate's degree with an eventual aim toward going for a full bachelor's degree in accounting and eventual CPA status by the age of 40 (I'm 31 now.) I know a guy who's 76 and still has a CPA practice...with my love of mathematical analysis (but lack of aptitude for something like theoretical calculus) I figure I could do that myself.
Incidentally, the old guy's answer to my question "ever think about retirement?" was "And what would I do all day, sit around watching TV and waiting for Alzheimer's to set in?"
