Oh, and I sure fucking hated missing things with your weapon while you had nearly 100 skill. That's a stupid system, and it sucked badly in Morrowind.
I actually disagree with you somewhat. If you hit every time just by aiming at something, why even bother having skill points in the first place? This is a role-playing franchise.

I think they should animate the swings and misses so you just don't arbitrarily do zero damage. Either that or make timing and control easier as you increase in skill. For instance, if you're bad with a bow, the targeting reticule is shaky. This makes it so that things get easier for the player as they get easier for the character.

Basically, it should be harder for a character with a Marksman skill of 5 to hit a target than a guy with a Marksman skill of 50.

I'd like to see some tits and/or porn, myself, but i doubt it'll happen.

So, how about an ability to permanently get generic enemies off my ass? I'd like to be able to actually talk a bandit out of killing me, instead of having to slice 'im in half and rooting through his corpse for shitty armor. Maybe even convincing him to kill alongside me, for a price.

I'd also like to be able to resurrect NPCs; i still feel bad about Captain Burd of Bruma dying.

That is where my rant came in. The missing thing WAS annoying, but I ended up missing it after playing 130hrs of Oblivion. All high skills translated to was having a better weapon without an equipment upgrade. Using a weapon I wasn't skilled at felt no different to me than using one I was a master at. In Morrowind, you would know when you can't use a weapon to win a battle because you just aren't landing any blows. It gives you incentive to level the skill, and incentive to drop the weapon for something you are more skilled at.

I would also like to know about this "missing at 100" that Gormourn mentioned. After I hit about 70-80, even with 0 stamina was almost always a hit. If the enemies had high agility, it wasn't QUITE so easy, but I never felt pressured at high levels to land hits.

Block skill was BS in both Morrowind and Oblivion. I like having it, but neither system really works. Once again though, I still prefer Morrowind because you really get to see your character improve as he gets better.

There were some great things about Oblivion that I would love to see added to Morrowind. Like mastery levels. It was great mastering Armorer and not having to carry more than one hammer with you. Alchemy poisons were also a great addition. I HATED the minigames though. They were super-cool for about the first 5 tries, and then you realize that they are just wasting your time. It took forever to level Speechcraft, and lockpicking was so long and drawn-out. You could auto-pick, but if you didn't have enough lock picks, you would run out fast. The only way you could be sure to not run out of LPs was to do it manually. You COULD get that one unlimited lockpick, but good luck actually leveling up your LP skills then.

While I've been playing Morrowind, I've been modding a lot of the game stats. I've fixed the magic cost of a lot of the spells, and over-boosted some of the more useless ones so that actually will take substantial effect. I think I need to adjust the weapon/armor eater spells. It's kinda easy to remove some one's armor and weapon right now. On the other hand, once I meet some Hungers, I'm totally fucked. That's what I'm counting on.

third person view with a crosshair for archers, but not the fallout one, one that actually shows where you are going to be aiming

That scroll that lets you jump across the map, but kills you upon landing, bloody hilarious.
Oh yeah I remember that, the scroll of Icarian flight I believe, I had to be 100 acrobatics for it to not kill me.

you didn't need to do either of those, or merchenting once admitted into the wizards guild you could get a spell that would raise merchanting and speechcraft by 80 each, and make someone like you 100 points more, and if you set it to last two seconds, long enough to talk to someone, you could cast it at any magic level...
you could also do this for armorer, meant you only needed one hammer from much before 100.
and as for lockpicking, once you have the infinite lockpick, why do you need to raise the skill? and if you had a sudden craving to you could always put it in a chest.

though i may be slightly missing the point here...

It looks like ES V isn't happening any time soon, but I'll vent my issues with past ES games anyway.

(1) Combat that actually involves some strategy other than walking backward and firing arrows or spells

(2) Locales that reflect the existence of magic, rather than generic medieval-looking towns and cities

(3) Enemies that aren't directly ripped from Tolkien, ancient myth, Dungeons and Dragons, or some combination thereof - Seriously, I'm pretty sure that every single enemy in Oblivion can be found in a D&D Monster Manual.

(4) More than 2 voice actors

(5) Balanced skills - some in Oblivion were almost entirely useless

(6) An interesting story that makes sense, rather than having Captain Picard pick some random imprisoned doofus to save the world

(7) Decent AI - it doesn't have to be brilliant, but it shouldn't be laughable

(8) Fewer than 15 trillion glitches in the initial release

(9) Actual choices in missions - as "open ended" as Oblivion was, the quests themselves were extremely linear. If there were 2 possible resolutions you were lucky.

(10) Companions with highly customizable AI

Let me play Oblivion real quick and i will get back to you.
Wonder if i can still pick up Morrow wind ?
They are like FF though right, in that they arent linked ?
Or are they like tales in a story line ?
Each game is an independent story. Morrowind can be found in the Game of the Year Edition with Blood Moon and Tribunal included.
To be specific, the Elder Scrolls games are linked almost solely by the location and by the Elder Scrolls themselves, as well as a little trivial background information, and, if I'm not mistaken, character cross-overs/references?

Better combat system (something like Fallout 3 except with swords and arrows), more unique items, and houses that are more rewarding to break into and rob blind. Most of the houses in Oblivion had nothing of even moderate value. "OH BOY! Another stupid shelf full of crappy ceramic tableware, I sure am glad I took the time to break in here."

Also, I think someone else mentioned an improved property mechanic, and I've gotta agree, that'd be quite cool.

I agree. A remake of Morrowind witht he graphics and combat of todays standards would make me...errr...damn.

Anway, I've been told that the mods exist out there, but they're like scotch tape and glue compared to a full, professional remake.
I'll tell you what it would make: the best god damned game ever produced. It would be humanity's greates achievment. It would let the blind see, the deaf walk, and the stupid smart. It would cure cancer and AIDS.

Less generic Western fantasy cliches and dumbing down of your own fucking lore. (Remember when Cyrodil used to be a jungle?)
This. Everything about Oblivion looked and felt like and introductory Dungeons and Dragons module from 1989. Oh look, a medieval town. And elves. And there are dark elves . . . you don't say? A cave, uh-huh, exciting. Goblins, didn't see that coming. And ogres? Wow.
