I consider us and others like us to be Gamer Nerds.(people who d things like go on the escapist and like to talk in depth about games and stuff) The supreme beings of the universePayJ567 said:Damn it! So these "gamers" are just people who play games and shit... So technically the chavs at my school who play Xbox count as gamers? Yeah I play games and Yeah I watch Films. I wouldn't label myself Filmer.EMFCRACKSHOT said:Yes there is a club, and yes there is juice, but you have to bring your own cookiesPayJ567 said:I don't see why you have to label yourself? Can someone please explain to me what's the deal with labelling yourself, and labelling others.
EDIT: By legit is there a club and does said club have complementary juice?
someone who plays games=gamer. Simple as that
Aren't we all just nerds?
yeah i agree only in the first catagory i agree a form of game that isnt digital, like table top or RP so like warhammer or DnD,Singletap said:I remember a few months ago me and my girlfriend would dispute about the fact that she was a gamer. She said she was, but I would to this day say she's not. She only played music games and maybe some Mario racing on the wii. But of course, this definition is a form of opinion. So, what do you think someone has to do or fall under to be considered a legit gamer?
Here are some ideas I thought of.
1.Have played all the genres
2.Have played with other players.
3.Has a game collection
4.Has their own sophisticated opinions on games.
5.Plays on a 3 day basis.
6.Have been inspired to do something by video games. Like join this forum.
7.Hopefully can aim a gun in a fps. Assuming they play them often.
8.Last but not least. Has thrown a remote of some kind some were.
So any ideas from you guys?
You can make super-fun spreadsheets!PayJ567 said:I don't see why you have to label yourself? Can someone please explain to me what's the deal with labelling yourself, and labelling others.
You can be in more than one group sir. For example I am a gamer, a escapist poster, a fatty, a loner, a mother trucker and much more. It's just if you are explaining someone to someone else you may want to refer to one of those things. It's all just a tactic created by people to help group and or explain another person. We all have our own definition of these labels or groups of people and I am asking what you would need to do in your opinion to fall in to the hardcore gamer group.PayJ567 said:So let me get this straight:Singletap said:Labels just make it easier to specify a group of people. And no just complementary chips and soda sorry.PayJ567 said:I don't see why you have to label yourself? Can someone please explain to me what's the deal with labelling yourself, and labelling others.

A gamer is someone who games but isn't smart or doesn't watch films or anything they just game.
Last I heard about all these social groups I was a nerd, as I watched films all the time, played games all the time, did my school work all the time, spent my time on the internet and didn't go out all the time....
I don't know if I'd call a Wii workout a game, but if they wanted to call themselves a 'gamer' I sure wouldn't waste my time arguing with them.Singletap said:That's low standereds so if someone plays wii workout regularly they is a gamer?gigastrike said:Someone who plays games on a video game console/PC regularly.
All of those of which are complete bullshit.Singletap said:I remember a few months ago me and my girlfriend would dispute about the fact that she was a gamer. "The Gamer" seems to have emerged as a minority social group, one that is gaining increased membership and is at the lower levels (those described by some as casual gamers) ceasing to be an identifiable social group. (or something like that)PayJ567 said:What ever this social groups seem more of a way chavs can try and insult me. Last I heard all us internet dwellers were nerds if they watched films played games and of course spent their time on the internet. Yes I have heard of gamers prior to this thread it was just my understanding that was something people put down as a hobby didn't know it was a whole new social class.
This was not suppose to be taken so seriously, another way you may want to look at it is "some things a gamer has done in their gaming experiences"Plurralbles said:All of those of which are complete bullshit.Singletap said:I remember a few months ago me and my girlfriend would dispute about the fact that she was a gamer. If you're onthe esccapist or other gaming forums, you're a gamer. Basically.
edit* 4 works.
Ah no. In my experience, although I have said all these things repeatedly to them, they do not actually retain the knowledge whatsoever so fortunately my definition is safe. This despite my friends having SEVERAL annoying gamer friends who talk about all this stuff incessantly right in front of them.Halceon said:These are accomplishable by a person who has never in their life played a single digital game. 3) know what game Gordon Freeman is from
it's a fairly solid definition, whilst also being very accepting
As for rules:
1)To be a gamer you have to play games and not consider it a guilty pleasure.
2)Refer to 1)
