Cel shading or toon shading is a type of non-photorealistic rendering designed to make computer graphics appear to be hand-drawn.
Let's just say I had trouble spelling when I randomly chose CellShaded way back when.

I just like the word hazy and 1992 was the year I was born.

Mine's the name of my main WoW character. It's a bastardisation of two Tolkien Elvish words: "ear" (Quenya for "sea") and "amar" (Sindarin for "earth"). So yeah, massively nerdy.

Also, it's meant to be pronounced Ay-a-mar. It took me a while to realise other people may not get that from seeing it written down without an umlaut on the first "a."

I probably put way too much thought into this.

Just a silly little thing that popped in my head.
I was playing .hack G.U. at the time and one of my favorite characters was Pi.

Pi-in-your-I.

Mine is from my old high school garage band...back in our hair metal days when I sported a full on 80's Bon Jovi-ish mane :p I still have my hair (though haven't gone full on Aqua Net in YEARS...) my guitars (both BC Rich, a red crackle Ironbird and a blue Warlock) and will not confirm or deny that any spandex and or leather may still exist.

I used to be into riding unicycles. It's been a few years, though.. I really ought to get back into that. It's a lot of fun.

Oh, and the nines, I dunno. I did the same thing with my Neopets account that I made at age 9, and it just sort of stuck. I've stopped using it, though, just sticking with "onewheeled" whenever I make a new account on some other site. Maybe I'll change my name here to reflect that, since it makes me look like I'm trying to be all "HARDCORE 1337"

But what about the 17? WHAT ABOUT THE 17?!?!?! WHAT DOES IT MEEEEEEAAAAAANNNNN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

OP: Mine is a tribute to the most terrifying unit in all of Starcraft, one that is sure to make a return in Heart of the Swarm.
It was also the name of my main toon when I played WoW, and how most people know me as. Although most just say "Torr" because they get "Torrasque" wrong >.>

Yeah, you're probably right, lol. I would have never thought that 5 letters could have so much meaning behind them.

It's an acronym followed by a year in a fictional calendar. From a rather popular series of fantasy novels. The acronym matches the title of the sixth book, the year is when the character referenced in said title was born.

It comes from Shalashaska, which is another name for Revolver Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid 2. It was also my username in msn so my best friend started calling me "Chalacachaca" everytime he saw me (he still does it sometimes), so it stuck.

If you haven't read the night angel trilogy, go do so right now, and I mean right now; then you will understand why I wanted this name :)

It's German for "pure white knight" or "true white knight".

Originally, it's a reference to a particular unit from the strategy RPG series Super Robot Wars, called the Weissritter [http://images.wikia.com/superrobotwars/images/3/35/Weiss_Ritter.jpg]. But, well, the Weissritter is a popular unit of a popular (at least in Japan) series, making taking it as a user name before someone else does unlikely.

"Weissritter", however, while indeed being German, and intentionally so, is grammatically inaccurate; "weiss" is the noun meaning "white", but as an adjective, "white" translates as "weisser". So, the correct way to say "white knight" in German would be "weisser ritter", as in, a knight that is white. "WeisserRitter", as it turns out, is a lot less common as a user name because not many people know that it's the correct spelling. Or care, for that matter; correct or not, it's technically still not the unit's name.

However, there's an upgraded form of the Weissritter known as the Rein Weissritter [http://images.wikia.com/superrobotwars/images/0/00/Rein_Weiss_Ritter.jpg], its name translated as above. I opted to take this as my user name, with the grammatically correct spelling, making it, arguably, the "pure" or "true" version of the name.

In short, it's a kind of a personal joke that sort of loses its amusement factor when I have to explain it like that. But hey, turns out it's a lot easier to get as my personal user name where ever I decide to use it.

Mine originally is my name backwards, but misspelled. My cousins used to taunt me with it. When I got a steam account, I just took it as I have no imagination.

Later I found out that it could be mistaken for Kirk, as in Captain Kirk. So now one of my friends call me 'Kaptenen' (Swedish for the captain.) now and then. It also means Church in danish.

Character naming is srs bsns, bro.

I don't know, I tend to put a lot of thought into naming my characters in games. Even if I don't draw on a particular language I like to make names sound "right" in the context of the character's culture. I just like words and linguistics, I guess.

I usually just pick a name that suits their class or race. Every character I name has meaning though. For example, my Undead Death Knight was Gargauth one of the lords of one of the tiers of hell. My Undead Warlock was Todeswunsch, which means "death wish" in German. My Tauren Druid was Torrasque. I picked Torrasque because when I first started playing, I thought that druids (especially feral druids) to be unstoppable engines of death and destruction; Torrasque fit that motif well. My Blood Elf Mage was Lights (with an alternate i) as a tribute to the musician.

And then there are the names I use in RPG's, etc. etc.

So yeah, I put quite a bit of meaning behind each of the characters I name, but I don't usually name them a combination of two elvish words in Tolkien Elvish, especially when that pronunciation would confound most people :p
