Seriously, the companies can do what they like. It's not meant to be for the fans.

Now I'm thinking of a guy shouting at a policeman for giving him a parking ticket and saying he pays his taxes so he pays the officer's wages and the officer shouldn't give him a ticket.

Not really, a policeman gives tickets in order to keep the roads becoming too crowded, they're performing a service. If they are doing thier job properly there's no reason to be mad at them.

Developers make games which are a form of entertainment for us, the consumer who buys thier product. If you don't please your customers, you go out of business, that's just common sense.

Finally a consumer who demands more from a company. This is how we should all be with our game purchases. Don't settle for less. Settling for less is how we end up with half assed games costing more.

For example, it's thanks to people buying the MW2 map packs for the stupidly high price that they are for what they are, that more companies will follow their example. 3 new maps and 2 old maps repackaged for £11? fuck that!

Yes, but E3 (as far as I know) is a trade show, meaning that its not to please the buy its to please the stockholders and corporates. It will probably please us because we are the market but at the same time, it's not specifically targeted at what the gamers want so much as what can be tapped for profit in the future. At the same time, the massive entitlement complex that hovers over gaming culture is getting on my nerves and people practically demanding that companies do what they want as if developers only responsibly is to wait on their every desire bugs me. Oh and the police thing was a weak analogy I know, but It really does remind me of that "my taxes pay your salary" argument.
