Nothing much.

Splitscreen coop is still out there.

Hell, Killzone 3 is splitscreen coop ONLY, for some bizarre reason.

*sigh*

Really now? You're joking, right?

I couldn't agree more my friend, me and my best friend miss the old days where we could come round to my house and just play Timesplitters Co-Op together. I really hope Saints Row 3 has split screen Co-Op, that would make the game so much more awesome for me.

I seriously doubt it, maybe on consoles, but I haven't played a single PC game since Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 that had split screen co-op. This makes sense though since you can't use two mice, and most people probably don't have gamepads for their PCs.
I had the brainwave to google it right after I posted it :p
It does on consoles and PC I think :D

Black Ops has (2-player) split-screen (at least on Xbox. Haven't got it for PS3, but I assume it's the same regardless). Not sure if it can do co-op.
Only one I can think of for now. May edit this later.

EDIT - Zombies is co-op, and Dead Ops Arcade supports 4 people on the one console.

Rainbow Six: Vegas and Splinter Cell: Conviction are the only games I can think of that I would recommend.
IDK about the first Rainbow Six, but Vegas 2 was a huge blast to play with my dad on Terrorist Hunt.

Also, I've had a lot of fun playing CoD splitscreen with friends recently. All of the recent good ones, we did Old-school mode in Cod4, Spec-ops in MW2 (and playing Nuketown with 7 easy bots on the other team and the kill-streaks set up for 10+kills).

But if you can't find a good console game, if you've got more than one PC, you can LAN some RTS games for a lot of fun, too. A friend bought LoRT: Battle For Middle Earth, and although we had to find some more CD keys online, we have great time playing together.

Basically, there are games still out there, you've just got to know where to look.

Usually it's just so you have to buy two or more copies. That's pretty much the Nub and Crux of it, though with some games trying to play splitscreen invites a fucking headache. I think Modern Warfare was one I tried a splitscreen deathmatch on a level with a factory, it was impossible to see anything. Every surface was just a grey sheet, doors were invisble, I couldn't tell what direction I was looking in. It was a fucking joke.

I was really excited when I heard that halo 3 had 4 player co-op.
Then I was pissed off when I found out it's online only and you can't have more than 2 offline.

Also gears of war has splitscreen for the campaign but only one per console for multiplayer.

Yes it does I believe. It has some picture-in-picture feature as well, at least on the PC.

God I hope you're joking.

OT: I also miss local multiplayer. Nightfire was the perfect experience. Why don't more games have bots?

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with most here. While I do fondly remember 4 player golden-eye and Perfect dark, I did always wish I didn't have to look at such a small screen.
Most times, me and my main bud have the same games anyway, so it's more comfortable to play online and have our whole screens instead of half. Also, it's more convenient. We couldn't play together as often if one of us always had to hoof it over to the others house.

Have you tried the Lego games? They are actually really fun!

Also Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 isn't bad.

And then there's also every music game. I play more Guitar Hero coop than anything else.

Right now, I'm playing KillZone 3 which I'm really liking even though I'm not that big into shooters. My favorite though is still Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

Doesn't mean it has to be one or the other. My friends either don't play games or they buy different games so it's great if there's split-screen.
